I agree I think the weather channel is off right now.

PARAGON 08-28-2005 05:16 PM

VTSTOMPER 08-28-2005 05:17 PM

That is a hell of a bank, but maybe. It depends on the jet current I guess...

PARAGON 08-28-2005 05:27 PM

There is a pressure ridge on the LA/TX county line that is going to make it turn north. If you look at a satellite loop you'll see a "hollow" area between to areas of light clouds and that area is getting pinched. That is what is supposed to force it north.

Paragon
Looks like you had better hook that winch cable to something strong and hang on.

Patriot 08-28-2005 06:41 PM

It may be the end of the Big Easy...

hyperion78 08-28-2005 06:46 PM

it already looks like it's starting to turn...if you look closely in the last couple of frames you can see a definate jump north.

Yetti 08-28-2005 06:49 PM

well from the picture Paragon posted it should be to my house in southern Michigan in about 3-4 days. it may not cause the damage it will in the south, but I'll bet we get some pretty hard pouring storms from it up here.

drmiles 08-28-2005 06:54 PM

Damn glad Drty's prediction is wrong. It looked like that it should hit Galveston, the way it was heading west.

DennisAJC 08-28-2005 07:05 PM

Jeez that thing is huge.

Stay safe guys.

I agree this might be the end for it, if it hits it. I hope not, and I hope this storm spares many people. Hang on you guys/girls down there!

Paragon

Looks like that sucker will be in your back yard Monday Night. We will say a prayer for you and all our other fiends in the path.
Hang on tight.

PARAGON 08-28-2005 10:12 PM

They are suggesting we'll get 50-70 mph winds here and up to 100 mph down at the ranch.

h2co-pilot 08-28-2005 10:26 PM

One thing is for sure, This thing is no joke. I can't believe that Fox news anchor is there in that hotel. I know I will be watching the news until it hits, I can't help it.

Paragon, do you have a generator just in case?

We have options depending on what happens. Worse case is we have to take the H2 and drive out if a tree doesn't fall on it. We can drive 40 miles northwest and be out of the rain, much less the bad winds. If it sounds like it is going to be a while, we'll go visit Taz or something.

Here are some cam pics from New Orleans today at about 3pm. We'll be able to compare (if any of the cameras survive) tomorrow afternoon.

Your welcome to run over PARAGON.
The only time they get to Us is they have to come up through Galveston in that area. They take a hard right normal when they hit land every time. The jet stream and how hard it is flowing determines most of it. Land weakens it quickly and allows jet stream to push it northeast fairly quickly.
Most people do not know that You can get some of the heaviest rain and storms on the northwest corner above the circular patern. I have really watched these things for years in farming as they can come through and total destroy a guys half million dollar rice crop in just minutes. Nothing you can do about it but, You just watch and fret over it. Was fortunate to only have one devistation in My long rice farming carrer but, I promise you only need one to almost ruin You in the farm business.

Our thoughts and prayers are with every one around the New Orleans area, be safe!!!!!

h2co-pilot 08-29-2005 11:20 AM

It's really hitting there now.

Nice prediction there Dirty Cantore, you're fired.

VTSTOMPER 08-29-2005 05:44 PM

At least the storm is slowing a bit. I must hand it to the weather forecasters, they pretty much nailed it...I thought they would be way off, just like the normally are. Here the only day to count on it the day your in...and that is even iffy at best.
