H3 FAQ ideas ... suggestions?
I'm working on a FAQ for the H3 section and I thought I'd bounce my ideas off everyone before I got started. (Many thanks to humbebe for her ideas already).
Here's what I'm thinking so far (and any suggestions are welcome) : 1. I'll create a thread called H3 FAQ, that will act as a placeholder or container for links to the threads on the sections listed below. We'll ask a mod to make it sticky so it stays at the top. 2. For each section topic thread, I'll put the info I have into the initial post. Anyone can reply with suggestions, links, pics or new info (on topic please) or send me a PM. I'll update the original post about once a week to keep all the info at the top. 3. Some topics (like the "Mods" and "How-to" sections) are too big to live in a single thread. So they'll be placeholders like the main thread, where each subtopic links to a set of child threads containing the actual steps, pics or details. 4. Once the structure is in place, anyone can add pages to the FAQ. Just create a new thread and PM me. I'll put the link in the appropriate section and we'll be good to go. Section Topics: Acronyms and Definitions Bulletins & Recalls Common Problems/Fixes Custom Fabricators How-to Guides Hummer Contact Numbers Maintenance Tips PCM/BCM updates Specs - H3 Specs - Competitors Mods - Interior Mods - Exterior Mods - Drivetrain/Performance Mods - Wheels/Suspension So what do you think ... ideas? thoughts? other topics? |

Re: H3 FAQ ideas ... suggestions?
Do we have a way of reading the codes? Onstar?
|

Not sure if Onstar will give you the code. Any programmer/scan tool can read the codes. I do not believe there is a way to trigger the codes to display in the DIC. I have never tried this on the H3, but have heard it will not work. |

Re: H3 FAQ ideas ... suggestions?
I created some FAQ pages in the Test area, and I'm happy with the concept.
Trouble is, there's a time limit to edit your posts. I want to keep all the main info in the initial post, but when the time runs out, I won't be able to add to it or change it. I don't know who the H3 mods are anymore, so who do I PM to get better edit rights? Jason maybe? Sure would be a pain to PM the mods every time I want to update the FAQ. |

Re: H3 FAQ ideas ... suggestions?
So f5fstop, how permanent is the website you linked to? I'm wondering if I should copy the data off the page or just link to it? When I get the FAQ going, that is.

Re: H3 FAQ ideas ... suggestions?
I guess the site my code sheets are listed is permanent until I stop paying comcast.:clapping:
I actually, have the same files in a straigh excel file, or html file. But in a month or two I will update both the h3 and the H2 sheets to include the 2008 vehicles. Needless to say, both will have some massive revisisons due to the new engines and trans (h2). To add to 3Hummer's post: 2008 Same 5-cylinder engine information, same trans (manual/auto). 5.3L, V8 MFI, 292 horsepower @ 5200 rpm, 317 lb-ft torque @ 4000 rpm (all info still pending SAE certification) The V8 trans just might be a 4L65E, but cannot verify that at this time. |

if you want i can give you access to some/most of teh webspace my site is hosted on. If you are interested le me know and i will give you an ftp username and apssword and you can host files even large ones on there, or you can even put a site up. The site and the actual web address will be completely separate from my business so there wont be any linking or advertisement, just the space will be shared. This space is very stable will stay for years. About 1.2 terabytes of space to work with. let me know if you are interested. oh and this will be free, just my way of expresing my gratitude toward the forum and its members.:) |

two questions i heard the H3 Alpha is going t be 295 HP, is that true or is it actually 292? and also whats the difference between 4L60E Transmission and 4L65E transmission? |
Re: H3 FAQ ideas ... suggestions?
The rating is 292 AT this time, but it is pending SAE certification. GM no longer, officially, certifies their engines, they use an outside company using SAE specs. But unofficial certs show 292.
4L65 is a big stronger than a 60. 4 denotes number of forward gears L denotes longitudinal (T would denote transfer) 60/65/70, etc., denotes torque ratings. |
