Dale Jr.
So where will Little E end up?
Hendrick would be a surprise since he's full through next year. Most think if Hendrick took him, Mears would be the one to leave, probably to Ginn. But Busch has been a little bish this year and even left the track early while his team fixed his racecar. Earnhardt, who also had crashed, filled in and drove Busch's car the rest of the race. Busch has also been very critical of his team lately. But that doesn't mean anything, I doubt he'll go there. JR Motorsports is very doubtful and E has indicated it's a last resort. Driver/owners don't do well. Childress was the immidiate and logical choice, but since RCR has teamed up with DEI on an engine program, I bet that's moved RCR down the list. FWIW, they hadn't spoken as of yesterday. Joe Gibbs Racing is a solid team with room for another car, and Jr is an avid Redskins fan, but Gibbs is a devout Christian and JGR has indicated Budweiser wouldn't be welcome. Even with the $20 mil+ they spend on the team, plus advertising JGR won't have them. Jr wants to drive a Chevrolet, so that pretty much eliminates the other big names in the sport like Penske, Rouche and Evernham. Who's left that could win Championships? Ginn. Sure, the team isn't proven, but they're fielding some solid cars and Mark Martin is doing spectacular running a part time schedule. They also run Hendrick engines and chassis's so in effect, Ginn is a defacto Hendrick team. Any opinions? |
Re: Dale Jr.
My bet is RCR. Who cares if they're fielding engines for DEI? Jr wants to be a driver, he won't have any dealing with them on the most part. And even if he does - he doesn't hate EVERYONE at DEI. There are a lot of people there he's still buds with and wouldn't mind working with.
Anyways, RCR treated his dad right, and I think JR is looking for someone who (a) knows how to win championships and (b) is someone he can trust. Childress fits that bill more than any other owner out there. Stacy |

Re: Dale Jr.
This is my own conspiracy theory. I think the reason that RCR and Dale Jr. haven't talked yet is they already have talked in the past. There is too much history bewteen RCR and the Dale Jr. for them not to have talked about the question of, "Where would you go if you ever left DEI?" I am sure RCR has pitched Jr. on what he could provide. There is no reason for them to talk right now because Jr. knows what RCR is going to be able to give and provide him.
If Jr. does go to RCR the one thing I do not want to see is them bring back the #3 car, #33 car or any variation of it. That is part of the history of the sport. Leave the 3 car forever retired. |
Re: Dale Jr.
I agree but he will drive the black 3 with Bud on the hood. Mark it down.

Re: Dale Jr.
Big rumor news, Dale goes to JGR with Visa as sponsor. Jeff Hammond mentioned it.
|
Re: Dale Jr.
Just found out that last Tuesday, HMS closed shop for a private tour with Jr. and they've had more than one conversation together.
Kyle's fed up because he feels he's third or fourth on the priority list at HMS and maybe looking to move next year no matter what happens with Jr. Buh-bye Kyle. :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: |

All this talk about NASCAR brings back memories of my time in Virginia with CP and Ken. And that other couple.
Ken, Paragon and me during good times. |

More trouble for DEI. From KNOXNEWS:

JR may be near a decision. You can read somethings into this quote from PaddockTalk: Quote:
BTW, Gibbs is certainly out. Not just because of the Budwieser affiliation, but rumors JGR will be switching to Toyota engines at the end of this year when their contract expires with Chevy. Toyota's belief is they just need a top team with the best equipment to succeed. |
Re: Dale Jr.
Fox Sports just said his insiders informed him Jr will go to JGR with VISA as the sponsor.
Darrel Waltrip followed that with Jr going to Hendrick with a shoemaker (adidas) as the sponsor. |

We should know tomorrow and judging by the HUGE number of responses to this thread, I know you all are interested.:p

Hendrick would have to move Busch or Mears to form the Super Team. Gibbs, a devout Christian, has expressed concern about having Bud as his sponsor. Ginn could do it because they can afford Jr, then they would use HMS engines, chassis, and support. Basically becoming an HMS team, but Ginn hasn't won a championship. Quote:

Re: Dale Jr.
HOLD TF ON!!!!
My big wish is may just be coming true!!! Marty Smith reports Jr will join Hendrick Motorsports!!! Bye-bye Kyle Busch!!! I never have liked you pissant attitude. I hope this one goes through!!! http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head....ap/index.html |
Re: Dale Jr.
Jeff and Jr on the same team... That should be a fun ride, and w/JJ HMS will dominate NASCAR for the near future...

Re: Dale Jr.
Super Team!
Here's more of an indication that it'll be HMS: Quote:

Re: Dale Jr.
I wonder if Dale Jr will sub drive for Jeff if his kid is born on raceday. Have Mark Martin sub for DEI and have Dale drive for Jeff. Would be a good trial run for HMS...

Re: Dale Jr.
I hope not. Jr with Hendrick would make me puke. I hate every Hendrick team out there. They will contaminate Jr with their cooties. :(

Re: Dale Jr.
Does it really matter where he goes? If he does not win more
with his new team, is his fan base going to stick with him? I understand(had a stepmother issue myself)why he's doing it but, could back fire if the wins don't pour in. Just my nickles worth. |
Re: Dale Jr.

if cooties = wins, I'm guessing both Jeff and JJ (and now Jr) are ok with that :fdance: |

lol totally...I'd be willing to bet Jeff's kid is born on a monday/tuesday, so as to not interfere w/the races. Jr will have to wait for next year:clapping: I can't stand Jr, but if he's racing for HMS, I'll give him some props:p |

Re: Dale Jr.
Hell yes...It's about time they got rid of Kyle. Hendrick will pretty much be unstoppable now.
|
Re: Dale Jr.
Now that Dale is at Hendrick, the questions of sponsor and car number are up.
The rumor mill, and DW, have a new beverage sponsor Jr. No specifics, tho. Remember, DW was the first to say Jr would be at HMS next year and he has inside info being Jr's confidant and advisor. With regard to the number 8, Teresa probably won't give it up even tho Hendrick has said he'll make an offer. That'll just add to Jr Nation's dislike of her. As I see it, the only way Teresa gives up the 8 is if Busch goes to DEI and wants the 5. Then HMS and DEI can swap. Number 8 was Ralph Earnhardt's number, Jr's g-dad. |
Re: Dale Jr.
Sony.
Two of Jr's team mates just got busted at Sonoma for illegal mods to their fenders. They aren't allowed to practice or qualify. If they fix the problems they'll be allowed to start at the back of the pack. |
Re: Dale Jr.
I miss sitting on the bench with you at the Busch Race making fun of big wimmins.:giggling:
