Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
Thanks to everyone. I looked long and hard through here to get ideas. Blockrockin, you still have your yellow one? I got a lot of good ideas from you!
|
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
It's the stock rear tire carrier, I just cut down the stem to make the center cap fit, then I moved the plates down to a hitch mount.

Where did you get the Line-X done? |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!

How is the ride quality on those Nittos? What mad you decide on 12.5 width compared to 13.5 width? Once again your truck is sharp! |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
Looks awesome man! How exactly did you black out your side marker lights?
|
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
I love the Nittos. I think the drive quality is pretty damn good but a bit loud (just got to get used to it). The 35 Nitto doesn't come in a 13.5 and I loved that tire. I couldn't go any bigger becuase of garage clearance issues, as is I can't fit in most places here in downtown Chicago.
I'm not sure how the shop blacked out the lights. I took it to my bodyshop. I know it is some kind of clear coat paint that they put transparent black in. |

Sorry to ask another question, but in your own opinion and regardless of garage clearance issues, if you could choose between a 35/12.5/20, 35/13.5/20 or a 325/60/20, what would you choose and why? Sorry if it's an odd question, it's just that you have these tires and I'm looking for something similar. Thanks! |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
First and foremost look at the wheel you are considering and the backspacing. I know people on here run 37s with no lift and it depends on your exact H2 (all ride a bit different) but there is no way with the backspacing on the rockstar that I could even come close to running 37s or 13.5 with out some lift or considerably altering the torsion bars (think long and hard before you start cranking on them, it changes things). As I currently sit (stock ride height) I rub when I turn hard if the surface is not 100% level. Also, I am a clean freak and the littlest bit or water on the road covers the side of the truck. Hopefully that helps you make a decision.

Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
This might help as well to give you a better perspective of just how far they stick out. They stick out past the tube bars.

Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
I can't tell you how helpful you've been! Thanks for the pic, looks fantastic!! Sorry to ask many questions, but what is your offset on the Rockstars? And would a 325/60/20 be similar to your tire size?
Thank you for your help. Kal |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
I want to say 4.5 inches, for some reason that number sticks in my head. SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG PLEASE!
Yea that's pretty damn close that's going to be 35.4x12.8x20 so just slightly bigger. |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
yeah your right they are 4.5 i have the same ones. love them ! your rig looks awsome !

This is the rim I've gone with. It's ATX Vice, 20x10 with 0 offset. I don't know what backspacing is so I'm not sure what it would be for this wheel.
|
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
See if you can call or somehow find out the backspacing. The offset isn't going to tell you how far the wheel is going to stick out. That may help you decide on the width of the tire you are looking for.

Size - 20x10 Offset - 0 Backside - 5.500 The tire is approx 13" wide, what's your opinion? Kal |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
You should be fine, just know that they are going to stick out a bit farther and they MAY rub on full turn, depends on your rig.
|
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!

Where, per say, do you think they would rub? Front fenders? Inner wheel well? Kal |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
Most likely they will rub the back (closest to the cab) of the inner wheel well in the front. The back, outer corner. Be careful becuase it can cut your tire as well as possibly rip the inner lining out. If it is minor you can always turn the torsion bars a half crank or so, not much more
You won't come close to the front of the wheel well |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
FGHT ON, I can't thank you enough for all your advice. You've been kind to share your knowledge and experiance with larger tires, and it's appreciated. I will post pics as soon as the wheels arrive. Hopefully they'll turn out great!
Regards, Kal |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
No problem, I'm so glad I could help. I know how it is to see all these rigs on here and know there are so many people with more knowledge than your self currently has and no one is willing to help. TRUST ME, there are more on this blog not willing to help than the few that are. I had the same problem when I was trying to customize my rig as well. So what did you decide to go with, I'm sure they will look great?
|
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
Well I'm just glad I was told about this site, and then stumbled upon your thread!
I went with the rims you see above in a 20x10. I've changed my mind many times on tires, but I think I've narrowed it down to just two, both of which are available locally. So when the rims arrive, I can hopefully choose the tire. Tires are same size, 325/60/20, BFG A/T KO (same as oe, but larger size) and BFG M/T KM2. Aesthetically, I'd go with the KM2's no question, but I've got no idea if I would like the ride quality. I've never had mud terrains before. |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
Go with the mud, Trust me you will be happier! Being BFG they will last plenty long and you will be happier in the long run. The ride won't be that much rougher. Nice choice however you go! Make sure you post pictures when you are done.

Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
Thanks FGHT ON! I'll let you know how I fare when the wheels arrive.
Regards, Kal |
Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
I am running 37x12.5x18 BFG KM's. My offset is Stock. My T-Bars are Mildly Cranked "maybe 1 inch but no more than 2". I have no rubbing EVER. Also keep in mind that when you increase your offset you also will tend to eat up your hubs much faster.

FGHT ON, your opinion is needed. I put a hold on my order, I just noticed this morning that there is an all black teflon coated version of the rim pictured above.
What's your take on the two choices? Your opinion is highly valued, Kal |

Re: A LITTLE less Bling!
It just depends on the look you are going for. Before the H2 I had a tahoe that was completely blacked out with no chrome except for the lip of the wheel becuase I wanted some contrast. The H2 has a little bit of chrome so I didn't care for the xtra accent on the wheels. Also, keep in my where you live and the weather and how ofter you wash the wheels. The chrome lip is going to need a bit more of attention than an all black to keep looking good.
The Teflon is also going to last longer and look better, scratches and wear and stuff . . . |
