I like the look of some of them but I'd rather spend my $$ on other stuff. If I end up getting some I'd get these in the black PC. They are the SMA ones.

HummerB 12-24-2005 02:19 AM

150!!!!! i have a bridge i could sell you!

i hope those were canadian dollars.

just kidding i have toyed with the idea but i can easily find better uses for the money.

StarsnBars 12-24-2005 02:23 AM

Yea they wernt cheap but I chalked it up to mid life crisis and got them.

TejasH3 12-24-2005 02:47 AM

All of those look nice. I also want to go with the Blacked Out look and plan to put some on my future rig. $150 does'nt sound bad, I heard of people paying a lot more. Love the pics, Please post more!

I really like the black handles, they look very sharp. Great job.

I have thought of doing the same thing, but I keep thinking that someone will eventually come out with a non-chrome replacement hood vent with recessed handles, something that mimics the H2's vent.

I went black as well. $9 per pair at Home Depot. Custom install.

nmikes 12-26-2005 07:09 AM

now thats halarious.

H3HUMVEE 12-26-2005 10:25 AM

Hey BradO ... in what section at home depot did you find those handles? I went there right after getting my H3 looking for "handles" that would work but didn't see anything ... I checked the door and cabinet section. I also went to other "home" centers looking but didn't see anything in the right size.

Hey check it out, its a fellow Gerry Lane'er. Did you go to the Hummer Happening at Angola?

They came off a rubber grout float (pic enclosed). Tear back the rubber foam bottom to expose 2 screws which remove the handles. It's easy to make your own template. Replacement cost was $85, so if it didn't look right, i could go back OEM and still be under $100. So far i like them.
Yep, went to Angola with my wife, mom, and 3 year old. We had a blast, especially when the rain started. We didn't get to finish the entire trail, but we were blown away by how easily the H3 handled everything.

H3HUMVEE 12-26-2005 07:03 PM

thanks for the info I like the look of those as well or better than anything else I have seen on the market .. my hummer dealer want's $285.00 for the handles and installation

Steve - SanJose 12-27-2005 08:07 PM

I guess I'm missing something. What's the purpose of the these handles? I think they make more sense on my BBQ grill or hibachi...

DarthKarl 12-27-2005 08:35 PM

Well I'm sure they air lift grills and hibachi to the troops in Iraq.

I installed my custom $9.00 hood handles today they came out pretty good and for the price you can't go wrong.

NEOCON1 12-27-2005 09:15 PM

To go with the handles, there should be the electric grill option so that you can use the grill as a BBQ at football games.

Maybe if you install four of them. Two on each side will look better. And it will hold the 4500# when it is picked up by Helicopter...

wannabeH3 12-27-2005 09:28 PM

im gonna say no on the hood handles.. im not a fan they may even be considered poserish.... but to each his own..

hmrlvr 01-04-2006 09:05 PM

Let me first admit, I have hood handles.
That said, grout float handles? Come on, it's a hummer. I know the handles do nothing, but some, including myself think the look is nice. Once you start using grout float handles where will it end? Maybe knobs or handles from the kitchen cabinets?

You think your $150.00 + handles look nice ... I think my $9.00 handles look just as good ... I was at my hummer dealership the other day picking up a few Christmas presents that Santa forgot and as I was leaving there was a sales man standing at my hummer with a couple of customers and he was telling them that the handles I had on my H3 where a special order item and that they required custom installation ... ROFLMAO !!!

Black Plastic HUMMER handles $195.00

Chrome HUMMER handles $295.00

The look on there faces when I told them mine where $9.00 "PRICELESS"

Now ... as for those kitchen cabinet knobs and handles ... hummmm ... I'm off to the hardware store

oh and by the way ... GFY!

OH thats real grown up. Sorry, didn't mean to get your panties in a bunch. Please of course do to your truck as you please. I'm just thinking as sensless as the handles are in the 1st place, knowing their grout handles was a little funny. We don't want to cheapen the hummer name do we? If your handles look to you as good as the other pictures on this thread then paying $9.00 is smarter than paying $150.00. Personally, I agree with Neocon1

Huck BB62 01-04-2006 11:57 PM

We've got the black hood handles. They're perfect. The angular lines, beefy look, all say "Hummer".

Steve - SanJose 01-05-2006 01:11 AM

Senseless hood handles ?? !!

I am driving a Tonka toy for adults and loving it.

I don't care for the hood handles but I still find myself looking for more overpriced accessories for my H3.

Listen to your 10 year old daughter, she sounds pretty smart.

Huck BB62 01-06-2006 12:29 AM

Yeah, the hood handles from GM cost a little. They definitely help set off the H3 from anything else though. After you pay $35k on a vehicle, goin' chintzy, especially when it looks it, just doesn't make sense. Now, if you'd milled and anodized a set that looked BETTER than the GM set, well, heck yeah!

DDWH 01-06-2006 01:35 AM

Mine came with black hood handles

Oh my god!? For all of you cheap ass bastards with the freaky hood handles WTF are you doing? I'll loan you the 150 bucks to go buy better hood handles. Dont put towel racks or kitchen cabinet handles on your H3's! For Phuck sakes gentlemen! Have some pride in dressing up your H3. You shelled out a **** load of money for it. Don't go putting $9.00 towel handles on your hoods. If you all put anything more silly on your H3's, Im afraid I will have to call in a air strike on you and your H3 and put you both out of your misery.
But on the other hand, If more people like you think this mod is the **** then I will just have to go into business and manufacture hood handles for H3s.
P.S. The Samsonite Gorrilla and I started our own hood handle business were taking the handles of briefcases. The Samsonite Gorrilla uses his fangs to rip them off the briefcase.
we will make millions!! Wooot!

hmer 01-06-2006 06:28 AM

Yup i just saw the comercial again Bob Villa and the H3 hamdles

That some fly handles yo!

Introducing, Grape Ape H3 hood handles.

You will never have to say: "Sorry, grape ape, grape ape." for forking out too much money to dress up your H3. Hurry! Buy now while supplies last or until the Samosonite Gorrilla still has the teeth to rip the handles off briefcases. And if you act now, will throw in a 10 inch "Fudgey the whale" ice cream cake for free!! Thank you and god bless.

hmrlvr 01-06-2006 12:51 PM

Thanks, I thought I was the only one thinking this way. Very funny picture

timgco 01-06-2006 02:03 PM

ROTFLMAO! grape ape.
I put a GOBI rack and lights on over the last two days and took everything off today! I decided to go to HOME Depot and take one of their plastic shopping carts and ratchetstrap it to the roof.

Does anyone know where I can buy some cheap falshlights (other than the dollar store? i have pleanty of ducktape to install them.
Thanks.

westhillsat 01-06-2006 02:56 PM

Hey, Thanks for the idea Tim.

Got a Home Depot down the road, I'm gonna lift two of their orange carts for when my H3 gets to the dealer later this month. I think the orange will be a nice contrast with the superior blue.

What was I thinking, I was going to spend over 400 bucks on a roof rack.

Tim, we need to go the extra step and get some of those lantern lights at Wal-Mart. Get four and make them the clearance lights
