So the GM at the company I work for asked another employee here to park his H3 behind the building because it is drawing attention from the customers. (People paying for the services of the public utility I work for) He then went on to mention my name as well...saying that both of us should be parking our Hummers behind the building.

Can you believe that? I was shocked. Has anyone else heard of anything like this?

Is this guy an idiot? What does it matter if they are attracting attention or not anyway?

TXSUT 08-15-2005 12:25 PM

Damn, I thought this thread was going to be about anal sex.

His point - if we can call it that, was rate paying customers will be having a **** fit. However, why would it matter? It is my personal truck, not the companies...

h2co-pilot 08-15-2005 01:07 PM

"eat a dick" ?

There couldn't be a positive twist on it could there, like maybe it is closer to the building? If he hasn't asked you yet, then I would park it where you want-( as long as your gentle. totally kidding )

VTSTOMPER 08-15-2005 01:14 PM

LOL! Yeah, you know the back area is coser! I would just go along with whatever happens...I just find it comical that the Hummer drivers are picked out...but hey - they are like nothing else!

This is different HD.

Yeah, when the others that work here drive Denaili's S2000's and BMWs!

KenP 08-15-2005 02:17 PM

Hummer blower is right. Just park your MB out front.

dochummer 08-15-2005 02:18 PM

How the hell does an H3 scream "overpaid city worker?"

You know, come to think of it...I hate it when my buddy pulls up in his new 4runner...as a teacher, he's getting paid way to much... They're all just a bunch of money whores! He should drive a Yugo...yeah, that would be more appropriate for what he does...

You know HD, sometimes people budget well and are able to afford things that they desire. Doesn't mean they're rich, or overpaid...just means they know how to handle their money...

I bet if you stopped buying all that porn every week, you'd be able to afford a better vehicle...

Envious perhaps?
just to take a potentially objective view point, A friend of mine has a security company and always drives a 8 yo Crown Vic to see customers because he says its easier to negociate contracts when teh customers don't see him running around in his new ML500. He believes that if his customers believe he is just scraping by then they fell that he is giving them a good deal.
not sure if this is relevant, but something to think about.
on the other hand its your money and who the f@#* care how you spend it. None of their Fn business

Take another big sniff, and hike your pants up Mr. Fife. Just keep on typing.

WTF! Now your giving job advice to Hummer owners? Whom are most likely valued at their jobs or are the boss, not dispensable fry techs. So it's not what you're used to.

I do not agree with your friend at all. DRTY has mentioned this too. If I pull up in my HUMMER to a potential client, and they make a statement(ex. well, I already know where your prices are) I just insure them that I can own a vehicle like this from providing years of dependalbe and exceptional service.

There are so many different ways to look at this, but I do have to agree with Ken, that HD does buy gay porn.

Frank2005 08-15-2005 03:19 PM

I have a friend of mine that tells his customers that he "won" his Corvette at a golf outing.

dochummer 08-15-2005 03:40 PM

Timgco, that's the way I look at it also... I've had a lot of positive comments from people about the H2...essentially, "glad to see you're doing well." Most people I speak with want to see me succeed... Of course, I let them know that I can only succeed because of clients like them that value the service I provide and trust me...

I do agree with you and have had debates with my friend over beers, but the bottom line: it his business and he has to accept the risks as he see them (weather ot not they are real risks but mearly percieved risks).

KenP 08-15-2005 04:17 PM

I have a buddy with a white H2. He drives it to all his client meetings. He told me he's never had a negative comment.

If asked, yes. See, it's the BOSS's company, and the BOSS's rules.

No different than UAW workers being forced to park Foreign vehicles off-site. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Look Firm, Look! HD is a bigot. We already know that from the OT site.

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAH OTN perhaps? and just WHO am I over there? Or, should I say, Which one of US is living Rent free in an ENTIRE Forum's head?

Again, Boss's company..Bosses' rules. Do not like it? There's the door.

If you do not work in a RIGHT TO WORK state, you do not have a case, or a leg to stand on. Businesses already have PROVEN that they can dictate employee's lives OUT of work, how well do you think your argument will stand when AT work?

Now, when you can formulate a competent debate, come back and talk to me. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Wrong, I was just showing some guys how easy it is to get you upset.

As for the rules, I agree.

It's my world, you're just playing in it.

VTSTOMPER 08-15-2005 05:08 PM

Ok, Yes on private land here, but how can someone tell an H2&H3 owner to park out back and not a suburban owner? Could it be branded parking? It is just weird.

timgco 08-15-2005 05:26 PM

[quote]Originally posted by Hummer destroyer: .....so why not Big Oversized Ego Mobile parking, that just happens to be in the back of the building?

WOW- I agree with him on this point. We should have parking signs everywhere for HUMMERS only that say BIG OVERSIZED EGO MOBILE PARKING!

VTSTOMPER 08-15-2005 05:49 PM

Well I never said I didn't like it, I just found it odd. turns out it is much closer to the door!

dochummer 08-15-2005 06:19 PM

I don't necessarily agree that the reason was because the "vehicle promotes an image that the company is not willing to deal with."

VT said that it was drawing attention from the customers coming in to fork over cash. If he had a ferrari, or any other type of vehicle that is either uncommon on the road or brand-spankin' new, it would most probably draw the same amount of attention.

Hmm....actually...naw, nothing beats a HUMMER!!!! Why don't you just park on the street accross from work...then you're not on private property, and the vehicle can be admired still..

KenP 08-15-2005 07:06 PM

I don't have a job.

I always had employees park in designated spaces behind the building. But I'm not sure if I could have legally required only one person to park in a different locale. Yes, I could've gotten away with it, but they weren't the brightest bulbs.

dochummer 08-15-2005 08:06 PM
