FYI, Hummer has a new bulletin out instructing dealers that if a mirror needs to be replaced on either side of an H2 from 03-05, to replace both outside mirrors with the 06 style mirrors since they say it is a much better design mirror.

I agree KenP! Shag Nasty!

VTSTOMPER 09-06-2005 02:00 PM

Hmmmm...I dig mine the way they are now...

Hummertech 09-06-2005 02:26 PM

As far as what is better, they say they are more stable, don't become loose at the pivot.
And the fold motor is a better design. If you're out of warranty I supposse you could ask them to try to find the old part number and purchase just one. Or you could purchase both mirrors if you wanted. The better bet would be to try to get your dealer to cover it since it is a known problem.

alldunn 09-06-2005 03:11 PM

Hummertech - when did this bullin come out? I was just up at the dealer on Staurday. They had my truck all week for a few warranty issues. One was the driver side mirror is vibrating ever so slightly (just enough to aggravate the living piss outta me ) when driving down the road. They didn't mention this as a possible solution, but instead said there wasn't really a solution. I'm like most here and not real fond of the new style mirrors, but would consider it to get rid of that damn vibration.

DRTYFN 09-06-2005 03:27 PM

You guys all remember when I was spouting off about how ugly they were and how I hated them, right? Well, after seeing them in person I changed my opinion. They are much sturdier than the earlier models and now have the folding mechanisms & motors up inside of the mirror so they're protected from the elements(moisture).
The only problem is that so far they only come with those damn chrome center pieces.

Hummertech 09-06-2005 05:40 PM

Bulletin just came out late last week.

4churchill 09-07-2005 01:20 AM

something I missed, what is the "known" problem with the mirrors mentioned above. Have had my '05 for a few months now, what should I watch out for.

I too think the new ones are ugly, but if they are better and something is bound to happen to mine, I would like to know what to watch out for...

Hummertech 09-07-2005 03:35 PM

The 05 mirrors don't seem to have the problems like the 03-04's did. I also just found out that the new style mirrors cannot be ordered just yet, so if you need a mirror warrantied and like the old style better then get in now and you can probably get the old style still.

Efrain 09-10-2005 01:18 AM

Anyone here able to post a pic of the '06 mirrors? I'v never seen one.

You are right! They're superugly, and to think that somebody got a bonus for coming up with them!

4churchill 09-10-2005 03:37 AM

My 06 mirrors should be in by the end of next week...Im willing to stomach the look inorder to get lower wind noise and vibration, and a power fold feature that actually works

Definitely let me know how that turns out as I am contemplating if I should do this or not.

VTSTOMPER 09-12-2005 01:50 AM

Let me know too...mine seemed to have a hiccup today.

MIZZOU H2 09-16-2005 08:58 PM

i took mine in for service and this mirror problem today... well long story short they told me they had no idea about the message for new mirrors.... they later on told me the problem with the vibrating mirror was my bfg mud terrains!!!

Can anyone help me out on where i can find this bulletin???

MIZZOU H2 09-19-2005 02:51 AM

any input out there????

Hummertech 09-19-2005 11:15 AM

I was only half correct in my earlier statement.
It turns out this is not a nationwide bulletin. This was more of a regional bulletin issued by our warranty rep. So we have been told to do that. Maybe other reps in the country are doing the same. But some places may not be doing that.

VTSTOMPER 09-19-2005 12:03 PM

So if I send you my mirrors you can send me some new ones?

Msg - 2003-2005 HUMMER H2 Outside Rearview Mirrors #HUS20050065 - (Sep 19, 2005)
2003-2005 HUMMER H2 Outside Rearview Mirrors

The outside rearview mirrors have been redesigned for the 2006 HUMMER H2 and are much improved over those used on prior models. Should you have the need to replace a mirror on a 2003-2005 H2, replace both mirrors with the 2006 parts which are a slightly different design. Also, the new mirrors are all chrome - there is no black version (this should be fine for most customers). The new part numbers are 15835056 (LH) and 15835057 (RH).

These new P/Ns are not currently available through GMSPO but are expected to be available the week of October 17, 2005. It is suggested to delay any mirror replacement until that time. However, if a customer prefers not to wait or wants the original mirror, the older parts are available in quantity.

Timster 09-26-2005 06:09 PM

I went to Los Gatos Hummer (Silicon Valley Hummer)and they said they will only replace the mirror that is bad.
(My right mirror is bad) They said if I wanted to pay for the left 06 mirror they would replace the right mirror with the 06 version.
I said I'd pass they're way over priced on most parts.
I'll wait until the mirror goes out again and see what happen.
Tim

That is a bunch of BS!! How can they replace a part under warranty and not make it match the vehicle. That is like saying we are going to replace your hood because there was a problem with the metal but we are not going to paint it

AHels 09-26-2005 06:44 PM

Sooo.. General consensus is what? Should I swap my '06 mirrors for some older '05 models or stick with the new design cause the '05's will blow up and...

Must say I don't much care for the new look, but if they are better than the older ones I'll live with them.

WTF???????

mstams 09-26-2005 10:33 PM

Just had my passenger side mirror replaced last week on my '05 SUT. I wasn't sure about the look of the new style, so I waited to see if the dealer would even mention it. No mention at all. Oh well, I guess I'll wait to decide if it breaks again...

4churchill 09-27-2005 11:28 PM

Damn just found out I have a few more weeks of waiting....the suspense .......I will keep everyone updated!!

VTSTOMPER 09-28-2005 12:07 AM

Don't you have some on the lot?

I have noticed my driver side mirror shakes pretty good at speed...yet does not feel loose...

KenP 09-28-2005 03:03 AM

I've had a problem with my mirrors in the past, but cycling through a few times always fixes the problem. I have a feeling if I bitched enough I could get brand new mirrors.

I heard the '06's are better made anyway. Gears, motor, etc...

Intercooled 09-29-2005 08:52 PM

Wow, I don't care for those. They look cheap! How many times do we need to see "H2" or Hummer plastered all over the truck.

mmayo 09-29-2005 10:07 PM

I to would like to know if anything can be done for a mirror after the 36,000 mile warranty. My mother-in-law has her '04 H2 in for service right now at Ken Batchlor here in San Antonio, & they quoted my wife a price of $817 to replace the driver's side mirror. The mirrors were replaced August before last for the same problem (won't fold/shake). I told my wife that was rediculous & to talk to the service manager. He said there was nothing he could do. If its a known problem GM should fix it regardless if you're w/in warranty or not.
