Anyone think that a little bit of chrome is ok? I am wondering what to do to tie in the stainless running boards and chrome grill. I think maybe the hood handles, or the fuel cap, or even the door handles (just the pull handle, not the whole thing). I will not add chrome rims though...that might be too flashy for me. What do you all think? I know there are many Chrome Haters on the board...so I just wanted to get a large outlook. I have seen some that have gone overboard...and too much will ruin anything.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with chrome. As long as it is tasteful. As you said, too much will ruin anything and you don't want so much you would be afraid of hurting it. Besides, chrome and mud look great together.

VTSTOMPER 03-08-2005 02:39 PM

Very nice Ken!

WOW...Very tasteful! Where did you find the ventshades/ventvisors?

hummerNCO 03-08-2005 03:03 PM

After all the years of driving drab green and wearing drab green… everything green… I look forward to more chrome. Bright, non-tactical, flashy chrome.

Not all chrome, but more than most. The wheels are polished, not chrome.

I changed out my chrome grill for a black one and just had Chrome hood handles and chrome gas cap

KenP 03-08-2005 03:57 PM

Thanks vtstomper. I have nothing new for the exterior and don't want any. Well, maybe I'll finally hook up the offroad lights.

Any auto parts store should have the ventshades, or can get them. I really like them.

Ken,

Love those rims/tyres - if you don't mind me asking what are they, and what do they run at $ ??

Thanks

Darren

KenP 03-08-2005 05:55 PM

The rims are MC2's and the tires are Nitto Terra's. I got them from the overpriced dealer before I got smart, but you can get them many places. 18".

I also think some chrome looks good on these trucks. Just try to stay away from the "stick on" stuff. My truck has rims, hood handles, hood latches and a fuel door plus the chrome that came with the Lux package.

I've got chrome but try to keep it covered as much as possible.

HA! I like it that way. A layer of mud is great protection from scratches, sundamage, fingerprints, etc.

I'm with you on that one, Sarge!! OD green was never one of my favorite colors (though I've always had a very slight fondness for cami). Now that I'm no longer in that world, I like standout colors and a respectful amount of chrome as a contrast. And as some of the pics demonstrate, it can get dirty and clean up nicely!

cool guys! you have given me some good ideas as to where I dab some chrome!

PARAGON 03-09-2005 02:26 PM

I can't believe I am doing this. I feel like I am betraying all things anti-chrome. But, alas, our bud H2Finally is busy with his steak resturant and I wanted to make sure he didn't miss this.

Chrome is good if it fits what Your doing with Your rig, in My opion. Go to photo forum and look for Rick's Stealth Gray. It is on bottom of page 1 or top of 2. You can search Rick's Stealth Gray and it will pull up 2 threads with pics. It's a 2005 SUV.
To each His own.

YEAH!! Paragon is starting to SEE THE LIGHT (of the beautiful BLING-BLINGS)!!

Taz, H2Rock, we the few are turning the stone-headed ol timers around!!

PARAGON 03-09-2005 04:03 PM

Whoaa....... Whoaaaaa! I saw some shiny crap with flames on it and thought of you and was just being a friend and pointing it your way. In no way let this be construed as some type of acceptance of all things shiny (unless it's on a Harley) Mine has all of the chrome on it that it will ever have. 4 door pulls and 2 emblems (and they might turn black too)

If you want to screw up the looks of your H2 with all of that.... that..... stuff, who am I to not help you make mine look better than yours.

IT STILL COUNTS!! It's shiney, and polished! It doesn't matter how you sugar coat it. And I really like the flaming H2. I'd put that on my little trailer I tow around.

Even my trailer is black and white with HUMMER in white letters. There are chrome trim rings around the reverse lights on the trailer though.

My husband is already machining me a flaming H2 emblem since you posted, Paragon. He said he'll have it tomorrow. It's going on my trailer!
Nice outfit!!
