got a 03 helps with some mods please

picked up a 2003 lux model. Would like to lift it 3 inches and put some 37 inch tires on it. Will 3 inches be enough for the 37 inch tires? Also are the torsion key lift kits sold on eBay a good way to go? the rancho and fabtech options are just way to over priced for my build budget. I guess looking for

1. Best lift option for a 3 inch lift

2. best wheel and tire option for this lift. trucj will be a street queen no off roading

3. Any advice on wraps? Thinking of a matt black or a maat dark grey.

The Search option is your friend. :jump:

Now with that said, I would suggest looking through Egan's write up on his lift.

From what I know, you can put 37s on your stock rig with little to no clearance issues. Just depends on various things like the width or the wheel offset. Of course to play it say Egan did a 2 inch "mini lift" and when done was able to fit 37s without issue. I think I asked him the cost and I think he told me about 500, but that he already did the rear spring conversion too so that amount wasnt added into the 500.

The best thing to do, IMHO, would be to get with Egan.
Unless he chimes in on this thread.

As for a street queen, ummm well I would say a decent street tire. Given it is hard for me to say because I want a good street tire but I also want something there in case I do take her into the dirt. Personally I get a good all terrain, ie BFG K/Os but then again if you just want street.... well then you could get into something else that would last longer.

As for offset... well thats up to you and what you want. It is also up to you in regards to the amount of steering hassle you have. I mean you havent told us if you want them to stick out, be even with the fenders, look like stock..... etc etc

Anyways I hope this helps

37s may or may not rub, there's no telling really until you try.
Some say that 35s rub, whereas on my truck I have plenty of room with 35s

Really just watch your sway bar, if it does rub just don't turn to full lock

Exactly, my stock 35's rub on the passenger side so there's no way 37's would fit stock without green keys, spacers, etc. Other people can cram them in there no problem.

The stock ATs did not rub for me. The 37x12.5 BFG MTs on the stock rims rubbed at full lock. The same BFGs on Rockstars with a shallower backspace rubbed a tad. Once I got the keys and Cognito UCA kit in there's no rub whatsoever...got me thinking about 38x13.5s now (sigh).

"...The 37x12.5 BFG MTs on the stock rims rubbed at full lock..."

Ditto on mine. Switched to the milder tread patterned BFG All-Terrain's in the same size and NO rubbing whatsoever. And, like you guruerror, I've looked at 38's since (did this awhile back, and is why my duece still has an MT as a spare :shhh: ).
Stopped by Discount Tire last Fall and had them test fit a pair of 38" Geolandar M/T Plus's on the front and they looked fantastic! But they DID rub a tad on full (left) lock. But remember, I was stock height...no key lifts or anything.

HTH.

Buck.
