Sunday 7-27-08

I don't see a Sunday post so here's one. I think we're eating some lunch and heading out to see The Dark Knight. Otherwise, I think we're eating out tonight since we had a nice dinner last night but first it rained, then we were out of gas on the grill so we had to broil our steaks. Otherwise, nothing too interesting going on today yet. We usually do more exciting stuff at night, it's too early for me to think about much yet. :lame:

LOL, like your new avatar. :)

We just got back from taking some measurements of the metal barn that we run the haunted house from for our subdivision. We only moved here last year, but after we contributed all of our haunt props at the last fall festival, they let us take over the haunted house for this year! Too cool. We've done big yard haunts before but never a whole house. We have a ton of ideas, I just need to CAD up the plans (it's built out inside in a maze formation) and see what will work. We're going to do a true "house" - a body popping out of a blood-filled bathtub in the bathroom, a head that pops out of a pot on the kitchen stove, etc. It's gonna rock.

I need to do some cleaning for the rest of the day, I hosted an all-day scrapbook crop yesterday and just piled stuff in my scraproom to get it out of toddler reach. What a mess. At least everyone left the food they brought, we have quite a buffet for lunch today.

A haunted house...how super cool! I love anything to do with horror. You'll have to post pictures later on when you have it. :)

Just took the boat and dog out to Island Beach Park. Tices Shoal anchorage and a short hike over the dune for a swim in the Atlantic...
Early back cause of thunder showers. But the dog loved it!:beerchug:

Picked up a chimney starter for the charcoal grill. That thing rocks! Had the rib steaks cooking in 15 minutes and they ended up being phenomenal! I started them by browning them in a pan of EVOO. Then throwing them on the hot grill. I put six sprigs of thyme, a pint of ripe cherry tomatoes, a cup of fresh basil leaves, and a whole head of roasted garlic in the pan of steak juice over medium heat for 4 minutes. Holy $HIT talk about money! I poured that mixture over the steaks and people went wild. Close to finishing the 6th bottle of cab now that everyone left. Fuk that take home midterm...it'll finish itself tomorrow! It's almost time to open a bottle of Glenfiddich and fire one up....

Browned in a pan of EVOO?!?! WTF?!?!?! I wouldn't admit that to anyone! I swear, holy.... are you kidding me....

If you need more heat or a larger heating zone, get another chimney starter and dump two of those suckers in there. My 500* thermo wrapped around itself when I piled most of two chimneys on one side. Charred those suckers up so fast!!! Then to the warm zone until done.:clapping: Works best with super thick steaks.

Ever done a reverse sear? Indirect heat until they are within 20* of ideal, then put over high heat for the sear. It's supposed to be more accurate. I haven't done it, but I've heard good stuff about it.

Geez, we just got done cleaning out one of the spare bedrooms and packing up a bunch of things to go to the Humane Society Goodwill Store. We haven't even thought about eating yet but now I'm hot but glad it's done. Put dog stuff on shelves and all that. Trying to fit the elliptical in there with the bowflex so we can both use them at the same time but still not sure if we made enough room. We also have a bunch to take to the sheds outside. Boring or what? Then again, it is what you did on Sunday not what is entertaining. LOL

That's what the recipe called for...Gourmet magazine July issue. It's ok to admit that you can abreviate! Give it a try, come out of that closet!
