Hummer Dealers in the News

Stumbled across this article on the net. It's from June, but gives some dealer perspective on the Hummer. Sounds like the dealers are upset by GMs recent Hummer announcements, but the largest, Tobin in Las Vegas, is upbeat.

You damned if you do and your damned if you don't! Either way, the best way out is to keep it...get the extended warranty, refinace it and hold on to it. As long as you honestly can afford the gas then the truck will last you years! I can't hoestly see you taking a massive hit on it just to get rid of it, and then taking another hit on buying something else. Your worries about California are very minor, there are so many more positive reasons to keep the truck then there are negatives. Your number one headache is the gas prices. Keep the rig.

I agree with the article that there is a definite market for Hummer vehicles. I believe there is tremendous value in the brand name also. It's just a matter of GM having the money and will to invest in a more fuel friendly Hummer THAT LOOKS LIKE A HUMMER and not a RAV4 or Jeep.
Overseas Hummer sales figures for June jive with this article. Sales of both the H3 and H2 were up in Europe, the Middle East, the Soviet Union, Australia and yes, China for June of 2008. As some of our forum members who live in Europe know, gas is much more expensive there, but the Hummer thrives. Sales of the right hand drive H3 were at an all time high in Great Britain . There is a definite world market for Hummer! Couldn't find any data yet on H2 and H3 sales in the US for June '08. Isn't it funny that it's so easy to obtain the data for overseas sales online?
