I have Skyjacker 5.5" with 38 x 15.5
Minor rub under fenderwells when offroading. would recommend 6" lift minimal for anything bigger. Jerry |
The wheels on my H2 are 20" Wheels

There was someone here running 40" MT/R's, but I can't seem to find the post about them.
|
Det, you talking about this guy?
http://www.elcova.com/h2/frankh2.jpg Those are GY 40's. I can't seem to find his post about doing the lift though. There's this guy too: http://elcova.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=2826088551&f=2606011751&m=708600875 2&r=7086008752#7086008752 |

Yeah, that is the dude I was thinking of.

I know that with the fabtech 6" kit you can run the goodyear 40x13.5 tires without rubbing. I don't think that you can go any wider though.

I am Running 38x15.5x20 Toyos on my H2 with 6" lift I would say 6" min for 40" wheels.

I've been waiting for the front 4.88's to be released that will help you out a lot. I have intake exhaust (complete exhaust headers high flow cats true dual) chipped and its still damn sluggish. I average about 7.5 MPG around town with that setup. |
fallen---where did you hear that they are going to make 4.88 gears for the front diff? I'd like to look into it. All my sources (plus GM) says the front diff will only support 4.56. I'd love to have 4.88s vice 4.56--please let me know where you heard this---thanks.
Definately use 6" plus lift for 40's x 15.5's to not rub--I have a true 6.5" FTS lift with tweaked torsion bars for close to 8"---I have 38 x 15.5's, and good shocks--could go to 40" easily. I am skeptical on the 5.5 and 6 kits because they spread the upper amd lower control arms with different spindles--them you put 40" X 15.5" on with heavy 22' wheels ---it is OK but watch heavy abuse type on or off roading. The FTS kits (and others) lower both the upper control arms and the lower control arms maintaining factory spindles, rather than just speading the upper and lower by dropping the lower like fabeck and skyjackerusing new spindles---I know no one who has been happy with the skyjacker kit. |
No, you do not need a supercharger BUT you will need a new set of front and rear gears unless you want the stock sluggish beast to be even more sluggish, especially in mid reange like when trying to pass someone on the highway.
4.56's front and rear will do the trick--the H2 will perform about the same as with 35's and the stock 4.10 gears. (the weight of the new tires and wheel will slow it down a fraction) Anything you add for performance will make it run even better. |
