Not unusual for a GM plant; especially after what happened to the OK plant a few years ago. Better to play it safe, than to have employees hurt.
They used to shut down Spring Hill Assembly if it looked like we were going to have two inches of snow.

I was told a ton of relatives of employee need help now...

Our daughter was born in New Orleans. Our prayers are with those people. Katrina looks very BAD!!!

I would be horrified with this Cat5 senario

No one has told me. We worked Saturday. We will start working Monday morning at 6:00 AM sharp. We only will probably get, maybe a small amount of rain. We are located in the Northwest corner of the state, along way from the big easy. Shreveport has had a massive influx of people into the city this weekend.

hehe looks like someone missed the memo! That would suck if you showed up at 6am on monday and you're the only person there... like wtf.... are they trying to tell me something? so what happened in OK a few years back? The plant here in dayton keeps going even when we had a small blizzard... I used to date on of the people in charge of making sure the line had all the supplies... man that was a funny night to talk to her... she had something like 50 trucks not show up, and she had some parts flown in on a heli on time.

In May, 2003, the OK city plant took a direct hit from a Tornado. Lucky there were no injuries, even though there were 1000 workers on site.

holy f**k batman!

was the plant effected at all from the storm ?

HummerNewbie 08-31-2005 03:48 PM

I sure feel for all those that were in Katrina's path. We got hit by three last year but the destruction was like a fender bender compared to what they are going through right now.

H3 builder, who works at the plant said no, they never shut down. Bad information I guess on this thread.

H3 Builder 08-31-2005 07:19 PM

We didn't get a drop of rain form the storm. We are still getting all of the parts we need and have lost no time from this. It has been a challange for the truck drivers to get the parts to the plant, but they have done it.

Hummer Guy 08-31-2005 07:21 PM

Good to hear builder -- glad it didn't affect ya'll...hows the town doing w/ the influx of people? or is it not too bad?

H3 Builder 08-31-2005 07:29 PM

Lota people in shelters.
