Hey Ken,
Welcome to the forum. Your new so you were'nt aware that that video has been talked about in past posts. I will let the experts on this forum reply with an explaination of that video. Tie-rods snapping are common on all types of off-road vehicles. Someone just happened to catch a good shot of one snapping on the H2. Since the H2 has more HP and torque than most off-road vehicles it would be nice if GM made beefier tie-rods. I even think someone is working on after-market ones. For owners who don't off-road that much the stock tie-rods should be more than efficient. Current Chevy Avalanche owner, future H2 SUT owner |

In my opinion "Yes" a little of both. If I was in the same situation I probably would have snapped the tie-rod as well. I think when the wheels start to slip, don't gun it, go easy, and wait for the wheel to lock. I also believe the H2 needs beefier tie-rods.

This was discussed in much detail in another thread...the right combination of factors will cause failure in ANY vehicle.
but the 2 big factors IMO: excessive skinny pedal, and where the hell was his spotter? |

It looks like Jeep did a good job on the Rubi. I am very curiuous to go out with one and see how it does. What is the fording depth on your truck? |
Actually if you travel with Rick in his H1 you will notice how the trail is wider after he goes through. You will also notice a custom paint job of neatly placed scratches all the way down the side as well as a few major dents that some boulders managed to push that aircraft aluminum the wrong way
![]() BTW, I doubt a Rubicon would get stuck. That short wheelbase really helps over certain terrain that's why I want to see one in action. |

That video is a proven fraud. It was just altered around using a video editing program! The loud clank you heard was an audio track taken from a cabinet door being slammed. Damned if that video hasn't earned a place in history, perhaps it should be referred to as the "tie-rod snap heard 'round the world" Dollar-per-value, the Rubicon is a tight machine. Hardcore jeepers bash it (for some reason???)...but you can't buy a more formiddable off-the-shelf toy for rockcrawling. NOT the choice for a family outting or anything more then 2 guys looking to shred terrain....but concentrated fun for sure! Jeep...it's what's for dinner! ![]() |

I have to tell everyone that that video is a fake. It's actually the sneaky Toyota techs testing their newest Sequoia disguised as an H2. Sneaky little bastards!!

I just want to explain to everyone that this tie-rod video was a fraud, a farce, a facade a skit put on by none other than Japanese auto makers to fool you into thinking an H2 could break on the trail. It simply didn't happen. There wasn't even an H2 on that trail, not even an H2 within 100 miles.

I am so confused right now. Are you guys being serious when you say that video is a fake??? i think sleep deprivation (spelling?) is starting to get to me, but i do remember being there to see and hear the tie-rod snap in person.
