![]() Have my Hummer H2 one month, "loving it is easier than anything I'll ever do again," How ever the rear door lift supports have already lost their muscle, okay it's 0 to 20 degrees here, but is this a peculiar trait or indigenous to my loved one? My wife is jealous, she was the last one I've paid so much attention too.......... But I never had to lift her over my head ………….. I know my dealer will replace them ….. but I’m curious, is this a common problem with the 05 – H2 ? |

I haven't heard of problems with the struts. But they can be flaky. I had a Chrysler that the hood struts went out shortly after taking delivery. Be sure to get them replaced under warranty. Expensive!

Welcome to the forum H2-OH. Never heard of this problem unless you have a ladder attached. Let the dealer replace them.

They are a constant problem.Wear a bike helmet.

You can get better gas shocks for the tailgate. They merely have a higher amount of pressure in them, I think. GOBI installed them for me when I switched from one ladder to two. The extra weight demanded it, and now it's great.
You can get them from www.gobiracks.com. |
I just got back from my 15,000 mile oil change and I mentioned to the dealer that the rear tail gate shocks seamed to have lost their umph. They checked them out and are replacing them. They ordered the parts today and should have them in 3 days. Free shocks....very cool!

Re: Read Door Lift Supports
it must be a problem, mine went out also. i know the dealer will replace them free but i live in the mountains and the cost to drive to the dealer will be more than ordering a new set.

Re: Read Door Lift Supports

Adam, I must say, that is one nice freaking truck you have....I'm jealous man! |
Re: Read Door Lift Supports
So, do the Gobi ladders pivot when the rear gate is opened? Do they swing out or do they swing up? Thanks....Jamie
|
Re: Read Door Lift Supports
They attach to the door and swing up with it, not independently.

Is there any drilling into the bodywork to mount them? Do you know about how much they each weigh? Thanks bro....Jamie |
Re: Read Door Lift Supports
Yeah, Jamie, I think one new hole up top and uses another existing one. I think the bottom clamps onto the lower door flange. Check GOBI USA website. They usually are good about posting installation pdf files BEFORE you buy.:excited:
Adam has since added 2 H2O racks to his rear corners. I know nothing about the installation, but it sure looks like high quality stuff. You could PM Adam in CO. He's good people. |
