I'm taking it in on Monday for the 50K service.

Besides the basic scheduled items, what else should I request - programming updates, pitman/idler arms, rotator fulcrum flywheel?

He said it should run about $700. Is that right? The only reason I'm suspicious is that this dealership is home of the $55 oil change.

50k service on an H2.... Well here is what I've been doing to mine at around 25k...

1. rack up 25k miles
2. bring ***le for H2 with you to the dealership when you schedule a service
3. Give dealer ***le + keys
4. drive out with new h2.

- you'll get all the software updates, all new fresh fluids, all the recalls taken care of and that new car smell in one single "service".

I couldnt imagine owning one of these past 40k when the warranty is up. Already went through a trans on my 05 at 16k. Once i get close to warranty, out the door it goes.

Well, if I was in your financial situation (where the write off made it worthwile), it would be an easy decision to just trade up.

Some crazy automakers offer a magical "insurance policy" designed specifically for such unforeseen events. They refer to said policy as an "Extended Warranty." - Say it with me. . .

I have one of those thats good through Sept 06.

Plus, if i traded in my H2 I'd lose all the custom brush pinstriping, dents, creases, tears, stains, discolorations and character. You won't find any of those on your plain old run of the mill Lot vehicles.

I just follow the owner's manual recommendations... My local stealership wanted $550 for a 36k tune-up...

I paid 500 for the same one in Vegas. MY dealer in pasadena wanted 1200

It went in today. I don't know if I'm getting a decent deal or not.

They're replacing the Idler/Pittman arms (anything else I should request since I'm paying my $200 deductable??)

Service:
Fuel Filter change $55
Injection Cleaning/Tune up $100
Front diff service $95
(skipping the rear since it was just replaced)
Transfer case service $90
Transmission service $125
Brake Fluid flush 95
Power steering flush $95

Convenient total - $650

I say skip the brake fluid flush and the power steering flush. If you're going to keep the truck for 10 more years, then technicaly you may be able to get some longer life out of certain things, but for prices like that, you'd be better of rolling the dice and chancing a repair in 10 years. I'd skip the inj. flush also unless you're having some issues. A throttle body service is a good idea though.

When I called back to "amend" the work authorization earlier today, they had already completed the work. I feel dumb now for saying yes to so much.

I just recently cleaned/reoiled my washable Volant air filter.

The injector service does include a throttle body cleaning.

I figured I was going to get owned, I just wasn't sure how bad.

$500? $550? $650? Albie's $1000 quote??? I just paid $1,200 for 30K service here in SoCal!! Soon to come, $2,400 for additional 36K extened warranty!! There goes my hidden winch bumper...
