However, I've noticed the last few weeks a "ticking" sound that sounds like an exhaust leak coming from the engine compartment.

I looked at the driver's side manifold and the last stud closest to the firewall is broken off (WTF?)

Anyway, I thought about dropping the manifold and since a part of it will still be sticking out, it shouldn't be a problem getting it out...

Unless of course, I just put headers on it.

Any point of doing so? The older I get the more I stay away from headers since I hate messing with flange and collector gaskets blowing out all the time.

Are the H2 headers like the corvette headers where they fit almost perfectly and have no chance of leakage?

Just stay away from the Edelbrock shorties, I had 2 sets go bad and they wouldn't stand behind them. The shop that did the installation has taken back close to a dozen of them with the same problem and Edelbrock wouldn't do anything about them. I went with the Borla and they seem to be good.

I agree, I won't be using shorty's anyway. If I'm going with headers, I want long tubes.

I'm pleased with Magnaflow and Borlas I've had on previous vehicles, that'll be who I go with.

How do you like your headers on your H2? Are they shorties or long tubes?

On the headers I recommend You go with dynatech long tube or long neck as some call them from old days. T-304 stainless steel can get in a full catback system. I have run them for a while and like them allot. I'm running the full catback.

Put on a lift or a floor jack with jack stands and get front tires off one person on each side. Both pull a wheel off and then remove the inner fender liner and your staring right at the exhaust manifold and You come out with them and back with headers. Not as bad with gaskets this way but, still have not found a way to ever prevent the little wrestling match You get into but, it is not much. Go back with liner and tire let it down and You are installed with guys on both sides in 30 minutes if lucky but, 1 hour at the most. We have done that and add more work while it was up and tires and inner fender off and still finish in an hour.

Can the stock ECM compensate for the leaner condition caused by the headers? If not, how are you guys working around this?

Mine are shorties. Nobody at the time made any that were cafe certified. They do help I'm sure because of the S/C.

I am running http://www.theotherguysproducts.com/ they are a long tube header and cermic coated. They still look as good as the day I bought them. I have put about 45,000 miles with no issues.
