I've been searching like crazy and can't find any pictures, details or anything other than the GM text off their site. If anyone has one, can you tell me how you like it, how it looks, possible pics and if it's worth it? How well does it function as a dvd player and if it's in the front, can it be used while driving?

Oh yea, I'm looking at getting one for the wife when I get back from vaction next week, leaving tomorrow.

Too bad it's not around earlier, i ordered my H3 last week and wish i could have added that as an option. Only thing left i wanted to get, but ah well. Not a big deal!

You can get it cheaper and better after market. The Pioneer AVIC D-1 is really nice only $1200, plus you can add a sub for a couple hundred.

The factory unit does not play DVD movies and will only read Nav DVDs. I agree with Firm, you can get better units aftermarket. Don't know if you need to add an amp with the Pioneer though. Most higher end units I have had in the past didn't have any power of their own.

You have to add an amp, but you can find an amplified subwoofer if space is an issue.

You definitly have to add an amp for the sub or get a powered one but do you have to add either two 2 channel or one 4 channel amp for the front and rear speakers or does it have its own power? Most head units with internal amp have in the neighborhood of a 4 x 35 to 4 x 50 peak amp. Also, does the Pioneer have a seperate sub out? Guess I could go follow your link

firm 06-09-2005 11:29 PM

I think the pioneer powers front, rear and sub.

HummerNewbie 06-10-2005 12:21 AM

I am shocked if it has enough power for a sub but who knows

firm 06-10-2005 12:24 AM

It doesn't you have to get and amp. I don't know of a reciever that powers a sub.

Sorry, thought you meant that it did have power for a sub. I too have never heard of a head unit that does. Just isn't room for enough of an amp with that kind of power in the units.
