VTSTOMPER 08-31-2005 12:59 AM

Where did that come from? The bed cover?

Rubber pieces are stuck on with two-sided foam tape.

VTSTOMPER 08-31-2005 02:03 AM

Ok, either mine are gone, or I never had those. Let me go out and look again...

brb

Yeah - I do not have them, never did. Were those things glued on? I wonder if it is part of the bed cover kit.

rodster 08-31-2005 02:12 AM

Don't know what to think about that VT. Maybe the pieces are part of the cover kit but that doesn't make sense. Seems to me you'd need them more without the cover? Dunno.

They aren't glued on, they're stuck on with tape, which you can see on the left edge of the rubber piece in the pic above.

Yours were probably stolen out of your truck when it was on the lot before you bought it.

Thanks for the heads-up Rod. Glad I got the big tube of RVT! LOL

VTSTOMPER 08-31-2005 11:40 AM

WTF!

Well you have a cover too right Pete? Anyone else have these things?

Bill Kervaski 08-31-2005 11:57 AM

They come with the taneau cover. I took mine off.

VTSTOMPER 08-31-2005 12:00 PM

YAY!

I am not missing anything then!

Mr. I - Man 08-31-2005 02:12 PM

Never had them either???

timgco 08-31-2005 02:40 PM

I have tyhem on mine too. I do have the cover too. BUt mine don't seem to be loose or want to come off. Quit making your SUT bed into a sand box Rod, and this crap will stay on!

captainmike 09-04-2005 09:25 AM

Consider yourself a pioneer, captainmike. I do believe you'll be the first to try.

I also imagine removing it will be fairly easy and re-mounting and aligning it will be the challenge. Good luck!

VTSTOMPER 09-04-2005 04:31 PM

after you take it off the truck, feel free to FedEx it to me!

captainmike 09-05-2005 07:45 PM

Well, i spent about 1.5 hrs taking off one side. It can be done but it will take a few hours to take off and put back on.
Has anybody tried to mount a rack on the cover? I am thinking that might be a better alternative to trying to take it off. I saw what Tim did but I was thinking more like a roof rack type.

The rack Tim has on the cover is a roof rack. It matches Gobi's stealth rack.

You're thinking something a bit deeper? Like this? If yes then I imagine Gobi would be happy to make a deeper on for you. I searched a good while for a "basket" type rack to put on the back but none fit, let alone as well as Gobi's.

4churchill 09-05-2005 10:19 PM

I havent found a roof rack that works as well as my Gobi so I can imagie that they would have the best bed rack too....

TXSUT 09-06-2005 01:27 PM

So why do the SUTs with tonneau covers have these rubber pieces? To keep the odor of the dead bodies I carry from permeating the cab?

Just kidding obviously, but I wonder why they are there?
