Parking problems
So, my little office building (some of you have been there) has very limited parking and is right next door to a much bigger building. In fact, some of the spaces we have are closer to the other building than their own parking is, so as you can imagine, we have had a major problem with tenants from the other buildng parking in our lot. So today I called the Greenwood Village police and they came out to write a couple of parking tickets. One of these idiots comes out while the cop is there an?d threatens me. He says he'll remember which car is mine, too. Whatever that means. I told him that's okay, because I'm not parking illegaly, you are. He shouted some additional threats through the glass after the cop left when I was in the lobby explaining all this to the tenants of my building, but I couldn't tell wat he said. The other idiot then comes out, throws his parking ticket on the ground and moves his car to the other spaces in a fairly violent fashion. Dumbass. Don't take it out on your car because you're a moron. Not sure I would throw the ticket away either, as they have a tendency to keep those records a LONG time. I think the fine went from $35 to $75 if you don't pay it in a week or less, too. Anyway, just thought it was fun. I'm really bored today.

Re: Parking problems
I don't know what the procedure is out there but when I was in Law Enforcement in Pennsylvania (long, long ago) if you didn't pay a parking ticket it turned into a summary traffic violation with all the court costs that brought along. If the procedure is similar in CO maybe you could give the Officer that wrote the ticket a call and offer to testify in court if it comes to it. I'm sure the Judge would love to hear that he threw the ticket on the ground, stuff like that really makes their day. :>

Don't forget to snap his picture! That makes 'em really happy. :D

Re: Parking problems
If the building is "yours", then you should have had them towed. I used to that nightly when bar patrons next door would use my parking lot. No Police, just snatch the car and take it away.:)

That's our usual MO, but the tow guy was tied up at the other end of town. We use Dave Chambers of Chambers & Sons Towing (H1 Gas Flame Wagon). He suggested a few other companies to use but they were all too busy and suggested we call the cops. |
Re: Parking problems
Recently saw where you can buy a tire boot. Having my attorney look into the legalities of using it on people that park in no parking spots around our office complex. Mainly people that pull up near the front door of one of our buildings with at least two tires in the grass. Tired of replacing sprinkler heads because of lazy sh!ts that can not be bothered to park in a parking space

Re: Parking problems
Moving illegally parked cars with a fork lift is entertaining:D
In philly the police wouldn't ticket cars so we just towed them. |

Adam
For crying out loud, just treat them like you do when you see an H2 parked somewhere. ;) |
Re: Parking problems
In many places the police have no authority to issue a ticket for something occuring on private property. For parking, many times the LEO has to see the offense and the owner or manager of the property has to sign the ticket. Simple signs with "damage at owner's expense" language makes things simple for when the tow truck has to drag it out of the parking spot to haul it off and hooks to the flimsy bumper first...... oops. :D
If it's someone that does it chronically, just call the cops once and have them provide the verbal warning to the owner so that there is a valid record and then have it roughly towed away. |

I thought about that, too. It was pretty stupid to threaten my vehicle (had a rental that day) in front of the cop. |
Re: Parking problems
Adam,
Now is the time to set up a surveilance camera. You'll thank me later.;) |
