We test drove a 2003 H2 today with 14K miles. We regret ever selling ours so we're in the market for another one. I have a tenative offer on it but when I test drove it today, I noticed something strange about the steering.

When the car is stopped, I'll start to turn the wheel to the right and I feel a slight "tick" from the steering wheel. It doesn't do it when the wheel is turned to the left. I checked the tires so it's not a rock.

Since I don't have any history on this vehicle I just want ot make sure it wasn't used for only off-roading. Not being a mechanic, I wouldn't even know where to start to assess issues. It drives very well at all speeds though and that slight steering issue seems to be the only problem. Any ideas?

Does it CRACKwhen you turn the wheel?
Or does it make the noise over bumps when turning?

It's more of a "tick" that I can feel through the steering wheel.

Thanks all! That's a lot of help. Thank God I'll have the factory warranty.

I have had that tick in My 99 Silverado since new. It happens when I turn max to right. It is most likely steering Pump just pulsing is what dealer told Me, little low on fluid when maxed out but pump stick shows full. He said not to worry. I have 130,000 miles and same pump no problems. I guess it is just a quirk in some and others do not have it. I have a couple of friends same truck year and model as mine and thiers does not do it.
