Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
he could of ran it out off the bank and only of killed a couple trees and probably could of backed it right back up on to the road afterwards .

Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
so honestly the hum was still running when it was out on the flat bed. Does that mean the driver was hammered and there for didn't drive away?
|
Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
No he was not hammered. Since it happened a while ago I do not remember the full details but I think he started it up after getting it turned back over on the road.

I'm just trying to figure out how street tires caused the roll over. Looked like slick conditions, a steep bank, and a little too much speed. I'd take a siped street tire over any mud terrain made for those conditions. Studded tires or chains would have been the only thing better. |
Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
Yea that does suck.:(

Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
Yeah, he did drive it home after checking and topping off his fluids.

Those GSAs are crappy street tires - I know from experience - had them on an H1 demo and they were an accident waiting to happen. |

Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
Yeah, tell me about it. I had them on my first truck god damn things would hydroplane in the rain. They got clogged up with snow, you name it they could not handle it. They tend to "cup" at about 10,000 miles which makes them hard as hell to balance too.

Re: H1 + Street tires = Rollover
Okay, here is the story...
While driving on new years eve 2004 near Pagosa Springs, Colorado. I was on that snowpacked iced-over road, came around the turn to see a snowplow in the middle of the road coming at me. I avoided the plow and slid sideways off the road. The bank on the side of the road was 42deg but I had enough momentum that when I hit a tree at the bottom the Hummer went on its lid. After we got it rubber-side down again the police made us move it away from the bend in the road, as not to cause another accident. So the Hummer was towed into town where I changed the fluids and taped up the broken passanger window which was hit by the mirror. The only damage was a slight dent in the roof, crushed roof rack, passanger mirror and passanger window. 6 of the 8 lights on the front still worked. No one was hurt, although I did get a ticket for wreckless driving. -Clark |
