Help, My neighbors think I am messed up and ready to call he cops. Trying to calibrate compass driving in circles, whats up and what am I missing, won't show correct direction and cal is always on.

Next question-when I turn the key to on-no start- where should I see the tire pressure monitor light.

And how do I see the oil life remaining. Tried holding speedo reset, nothing.

The manual is not real clear for me anyway

TIA

Don

Re: 3 questions

#1 not sure check manual, Try it with the truck on a 40 degree incline facing north :p

#2 flat tire icon in the middle above odometer.

#3 You cant see it on display. Go to onstar and register and you will get a report once a month with % remainng(I dont use this because it will have you go 10,000 to 12,000 miles on your oil  .
I also belive you can hit the on star button and they will tell you.:D

Re: 3 questions

For the compas cal. Make sure the connector is tight in the back of the mirror. The manual says go in circles doing less than 5mph. The manual doesn't specify how many circles. My old Blazer used to do it within 3 circles. If you've done that then I'd say it's time to take it to the dealer. There's a problem.

If you don't have onstar there's no way to check the oil life that I know of. Kind of ignorant if you ask me. But I'm no expert and someone may have figured out a way.
I have onstar and they send me a report via. email once a month with a full vehicle diagnostic. Oil life is included.

Make sure the compass says "CAL." Hold the On/Off button for about 8 seconds until CAL is displayed, then drive around in circles and make sure you do not exceed 5 mph. Some of the newer mirros require quite a few circles; sometime at least 10.
