Top Speed?
What's the top speed you guys/gals have reached on the freeway in your H3?
Last night I did it 110 mph, it was awesome!!!!!! 35's rocks!!! :jump: btw, everytime I'm on the freeway, I usually go 80-90 mph. :giggling: . |
Re: Top Speed?
Liar, it's governed at 94.5mph.

Re: Top Speed?
Ok, I'm gonna try it with my GPS next time, plus my tires are not calibrated which mean I'm going a little faster what my speedo is showing. :excited:

Ok, but you just said you did 110mph (obviously according to the speedo) when you couldn't possibly have. Why would I believe you next time? :twak: |
Re: Top Speed?
95 MPH so far. Fully loaded (the truck not me), going down hill.
I backed off due to load, stray cows and potentail authorities radar. It may have gone to 100 MPH? The H3 sure felt smoother than my Wrangler at 90MPH:) |
Re: Top Speed?
I got an H3 up to about 90MPH once on a back road. It got there a lot faster than I expected actually.

Re: Top Speed?
Speed limiter is set at 98 MPH and resumes at 95 MPH.
|
Re: Top Speed?
76 mph with the cruise on. why are you guys in such a hurry?

If I remember correctly, that is correct. But going downhill you can exceed that speed:jump: Not that I would ever do something like that...(only in KY). |

I prefer to live long and crawl slowly over rough terrain. But we all get our thrills differently, so to each his own.:p |
Re: Top Speed?
Because we drive fast in Cali.............85-95 is a good cruising speed!:dancingbanana:

Re: Top Speed?
Sadly, I cannot tell you how many times I have hit the limiter. It sort of is freaky when it kicks in though. It is like you totally lose power until it reaches the lower speed.
We have a lot of two lane stretches where one lane is filled with big trucks and the other lane is littered with the performance cars. It can be a pain pulling out into the fast lane to pass a truck and in seconds there is a Porsche on your butt. Before I bought the H3, I was trying to decide on the H3 or go crazy and get a 6.1L Dodge Charger. I went with the H3 because I liked it better, and I thought slower would be better too (you do crazy things at those speeds). For those passing times, I would like the extra power. However, normally I run it in the 70-90 mph range (the norm for autobahn traffic around here). |
Re: Top Speed?
I have had my H3 up to 80 so far, keeping up with traffic. Going down 35-E, one has to get over 70 to keep from getting run over.
What I do like is seeing some nut coming up fast on my left. Once I turn on my left turn signal he backs off. :jump: Got to love it!! |
Re: Top Speed?
"When this baby hits 88mph, you're going to see some serious $hit."

Re: Top Speed?
BTW- You may want to look at the rating of top speed on your tires. I'm not sure if they are speed rated over 90mph? CAn someone verify this?

Looks like they are "Q" rated: http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tires...r/index_bs.asp "Q" speed rating denotes 99 mph as the maximum sustained speed. |
Re: Top Speed?
I've never really push mine!
top speed I've reached? about 85! :D |
Re: Top Speed?
I believe, and the chart at Bridgestone verifies this, the 285 tires do not have a speed rating. Speed ratings symbols are not required on light truck tires. Therefore, they probably fall under the R rating which is 206 mph (used for HD truck tires). This would seem logical, since GM caps the top end of all their vehicles about five miles under the tire rating (unless you have a ZO6:clapping: )
H rated tires are usually capped at around 125. In addition a tire is good shape will not blow up if pushed past the speed rating, and a tire that is not in good shape (especially under-inflated) may blow lower than the speed rating. |
