Gas mileage improve?

Is anyone out there getting better than 11 MPH? I've got an Airaid intake but it didn't boost mileage any. Doesn't seem to matter if I go 55 mph freeway or 85, I get the same 11 mph. Around town is about the same. Anyone...anyone??

I'd love to get 12.5! I just put 37x13.5x17 Toyo M/T's on and I fear my mileage is about to get worse.

This isnt meant to sound mean... but you are drinving a 8600 lb truck with a full time 4WD system... What were you expecting for gas milage?

Re: Gas mileage improve?

my mpg went from 11.5 to 9.2 when i put the 38.5" on. i put the intake on and didnt do anything. maybe the catback flowmaster exhaust might do something...but no biggie. its a big truck with big tires.

I'm getting 19.3 litres per 100kms, now that sounds a whole hell of a lot better than 11mpg --thats what I like about the metric system over here --I just tell people I think I'm gettin 20 somethin and nobody knows the diff. Ain't metrics great we don't know what ta hell the temperature is we don't know **** about mileage and we don't give a **** about weight cause its in some weird kilograms. Regards THe Rebel

11.2 with a heavy foot in town and 85-95 freeway! 55-65 is the sweet spot for mileage on the freeway....but time is money and driving doesn't pay the bills.:dancingbanana:

The only way to improve gas mileage is to not drive it. There are a couple of things that you can do to possibly get 12-13 but larger tires is not one of them. For the most part you are only going to be able 9-13 depending on what modifications you have done, how you drive (floor it from a light, stop sign, ease into the accelerator), your driving conditions (hills, traffic, highway) it all plays a part in it.

I'm going to try the exhaust system and the Hypertech programmer and see what happens. It sure feels sluggish with the bigger tires too.

So much for paying attention. Go buy a Turbonator/Spiralmax/Shredded Beercan for the best milage improvement. Or just pull 4 ignition wires so you to can have the Caddys displacement on demand.

Lame? No, whats :lame: is some rookie coming in here and asking about gas mileage. Hint, use the "SEARCH" feature. I think you will see that this topic has been covered 1 or 2000000 times before. :twak: :twak:

Also may want to go to a dictionary and look up the word SARCASM.

Now, send me $5.00 and I'll tell you how to get 28mpg +.

Got ya beat, mine went from 11.5 to 9.4 when I put the 37" tires and 18x10 wheels on. LOL

Speaking of intakes, I'd bought the Air Raid kit from someone here even though I knew it wouldn't do $hit, at least not anything I'd be able to notice except for maybe increased intake noise. I was halfway through installing it when I got frustrated with trying to fit the damn gasket along the top edge. I ripped everything back out, placed the entire kit behind my left rear tire, and proceeded to flatten the crap out of it so it'd fit nicely in the garbage can. :giggling:
