With all the talk from the group that went to Paragon this past weekend about the stock tires I started thinking about swapping out my 33"s. I don't really know anything about off road tires so am looking for any suggestions. I would like a tire that will do better off road, maybe have a more aggressive look, but don't want something that will be real noisy. Got a friend that owns a shop that moves a lot of tires so he gets great pricing and will sell to me at cost. I was there the other day and from what one of his guys was telling me, he would give me a pretty good trade for mine with only 700 miles on them. Open to any suggestions.

There are lot's of threads on this but I've always had good luck with these.
http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgap...erraintako.jsp As for me I am putting Goodyear MTR LT315/75R16's on mine. They will be loud and are not very good in the rain but I like them when aired down in the rocks. Ken |
If you keep the factory whels I would go with the Toyo open counrty. here's a link to my H3 with 33" Toyos on the factory 16" wheels. I think it looks heela sweet and they ride pretty good on the road too.

Have to agree with ketcat, for an all around tire that performs well on and offroad, sure your going to give up some things for others, mud, road noise, wear. My question is which size of the BFG at's will fit the stock wheels, they don't have an exact match, how much can you push the size and have it work well without mods? |

The H3 Adventure package comes with LT285/75R16C and the BFG AT is offered in LT285/75R16D and LT285/75R16E. What's the differance? I understand that the tire is 285mm wide, the sidewalls are 75% of 285mm, and the wheel is 16" but what does C, D, and E mean? |

I beleve they are the speed/traction ratings. |
HiHummer has the BFG KO's in 285/75R16, which is the standard Adventure series tire size. Her KO's did great, much better than my OEM Bridgstone 285/75/R16.
I would be happy with the KO's or the Toyo Open Country M/T's, or Pro Comp XTerrains. What I'd really like to do is get a set of the Pro Comp XTerrain in 315/75R16. I wouldn't have complained about having an extra inch of clearance this past weekend. I don't think you would go wrong with any of these three. |
So are the stock tires really that bad? Just call a friend and I can get the BFG ATs pretty cheap and he will buy my stock ones from me, just don't know for how much yet. Trying not to make the H3 too much of a money pit but it is hard

Its not that they're "that bad"... Its just that they don't have the grip that more dedicated tires have. At 25psi I had difficulties over rocks. At 23psi is it was a lot better, but still shy of the performance of Hi's KO's.
I'm not a rich man with wads of disposable income ![]() (By suplimenting I mean getting a set of take-off rims and putting the hard core tires on them and switching wheel/tire sets whenever going wheeling.) |
If you are planning for a multipourpose rig and you have a friend that will make the trade I would do it. Although the Toyo's on mark805 are rockin',
![]() I noticed a definate road loss when I went to BFG's mud terrains from the at's (now back) |
I do agree that the Toyos on mark805s rig look great. May have to see if they can get those but am guessing they are noisier and the tread life probably isn't as good on them. Anyone know for sure?

Pro Comp is running there buy 3 get 1 free deal again. Not a bad deal. I got the 315/75R/16 Xtreams for 807$$ (4 tires) delivered freight 2 miles from my house from the east coast. Cost a flat 75$ to ship them so the price for the tires was 732$$ Not a bad deal for 35's, Really like the preformance of these tires. Hes a pic.

Heard Toyo's are the best... but what makes them so great, also makes them really heavy. You guys sporting these tires, do you think the weight is an issue?

Did you have the 33's on long enough to notice any difference between them and the 35's in daily driving? Also, do you have the XTerrains or the Xtreme All Terrains? |
Stars, yours do look great and I too would be curious about the difference compared to stock.

Wow, very nice looking! How is the noise though? $ wise too for the set? ![]() |
I do like the look of the Toyos but ended up getting the BFG A/Ts today. Almost seems to ride better than the stock Duelers but that could be my imagination.
Best part about them...$400 mounted, balanced and out the door! ![]() |
These seem like a good deal. Free S/H, and it the guy looks legit. Any advice?
