6.2 and six speed

Well, if you'd like to preview the '08 drivetrain, the Sierra Denali and Escalade are out with it. If you're an H3 fan and want to preview the drivetrain for it, the Envoy Denali has it. Brudn brudn....

Re: 6.2 and six speed

I was reading here that the H2 will indeed have a manual setting for shifting gears via buttons on the shifter.

"A new six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission backs the 6.2L engine. The six-speed automatic has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio ? including two overdrive gears ? that helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a "tap up/tap down" capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter."

That sounds pretty cool. I'm not sure how much I would use it other than offroad, though.

I'd use it every day! I drive in the mountains. It saves brakes to gear down and you can dive into the corner tapped down to the lower gear for the exit. Fun fun fun!!!!!

Is it done by paddle shifters or what? I don't think the massive aircraft-lever shifter would be easy to shift on-the-fly...

That said, the new engine gets my two thumbs up! :excited:

Cool! Any word on whether the 6.2 will be FLEX FUEL? I'd rather pay our farmers than foreign oil providers. I know its got worse mileage, and its all political, etc. I like it.

Good for you!! Thats such good reasoning! I'd much rather support our heartland than a rich prince in S.A. too!!

Or you could look at it this way: If you don't burn it up, the Chinese will. I say let's use it up and put 'em back in their place (nomadic tent dwellers)
