Dale Jr.
So where will Little E end up?
Hendrick would be a surprise since he's full through next year. Most think if Hendrick took him, Mears would be the one to leave, probably to Ginn. But Busch has been a little bish this year and even left the track early while his team fixed his racecar. Earnhardt, who also had crashed, filled in and drove Busch's car the rest of the race. Busch has also been very critical of his team lately. But that doesn't mean anything, I doubt he'll go there. JR Motorsports is very doubtful and E has indicated it's a last resort. Driver/owners don't do well. Childress was the immidiate and logical choice, but since RCR has teamed up with DEI on an engine program, I bet that's moved RCR down the list. FWIW, they hadn't spoken as of yesterday. Joe Gibbs Racing is a solid team with room for another car, and Jr is an avid Redskins fan, but Gibbs is a devout Christian and JGR has indicated Budweiser wouldn't be welcome. Even with the $20 mil+ they spend on the team, plus advertising JGR won't have them. Jr wants to drive a Chevrolet, so that pretty much eliminates the other big names in the sport like Penske, Rouche and Evernham. Who's left that could win Championships? Ginn. Sure, the team isn't proven, but they're fielding some solid cars and Mark Martin is doing spectacular running a part time schedule. They also run Hendrick engines and chassis's so in effect, Ginn is a defacto Hendrick team. Any opinions? |
Re: Dale Jr.
My bet is RCR. Who cares if they're fielding engines for DEI? Jr wants to be a driver, he won't have any dealing with them on the most part. And even if he does - he doesn't hate EVERYONE at DEI. There are a lot of people there he's still buds with and wouldn't mind working with.
Anyways, RCR treated his dad right, and I think JR is looking for someone who (a) knows how to win championships and (b) is someone he can trust. Childress fits that bill more than any other owner out there. Stacy |

Re: Dale Jr.
This is my own conspiracy theory. I think the reason that RCR and Dale Jr. haven't talked yet is they already have talked in the past. There is too much history bewteen RCR and the Dale Jr. for them not to have talked about the question of, "Where would you go if you ever left DEI?" I am sure RCR has pitched Jr. on what he could provide. There is no reason for them to talk right now because Jr. knows what RCR is going to be able to give and provide him.
If Jr. does go to RCR the one thing I do not want to see is them bring back the #3 car, #33 car or any variation of it. That is part of the history of the sport. Leave the 3 car forever retired. |
Re: Dale Jr.
I agree but he will drive the black 3 with Bud on the hood. Mark it down.

Re: Dale Jr.
Big rumor news, Dale goes to JGR with Visa as sponsor. Jeff Hammond mentioned it.

Re: Dale Jr.
Just found out that last Tuesday, HMS closed shop for a private tour with Jr. and they've had more than one conversation together.
Kyle's fed up because he feels he's third or fourth on the priority list at HMS and maybe looking to move next year no matter what happens with Jr. Buh-bye Kyle. :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: |

All this talk about NASCAR brings back memories of my time in Virginia with CP and Ken. And that other couple.
Ken, Paragon and me during good times. |

More trouble for DEI. From KNOXNEWS:

JR may be near a decision. You can read somethings into this quote from PaddockTalk: Quote:
BTW, Gibbs is certainly out. Not just because of the Budwieser affiliation, but rumors JGR will be switching to Toyota engines at the end of this year when their contract expires with Chevy. Toyota's belief is they just need a top team with the best equipment to succeed. |
