http://news.carjunky.com/the-hummer-h3-cde619.shtml The Hummer H3 Sat, 16 Jun 2007, 14:28 Ok, no more talk about economy or budget or compromising on power for comfort. What we all want is the ultimate driving machine which sacrifices nothing. s cut to the chase and go to the head of the class and talk about an automobile that delivers on comfort, on power, on performance and which is overall a special machine which no one can deny leads the way. This car is none other than the H3 Alpha. First of all you notice that “Alpha” stamp. GM does not simply stamp any old car it produces with that coveted badge. The Alpha stamp ensures quality and performance on an unprecedented level. The Hummer H3 Alpha not only lives up to this distinguished tradition but sets the new standard which all future Alpha series vehicles will measure up to. The Hummer H3 Alpha is simply the ultimate hummer available. All of the power of the important series such as a powerful 5.3 liter V-8 engine that delivers 295 horsepower not to mention the towing power increased to 6,000 pounds. The Alpha badging means that this go-anywhere, do-anything vehicle just got better with comfort and style added to all that power. The Hummer H3 Alpha has the full chrome package, 16 inch chrome wheels, as well as embroidered headrests on the front seat stating to everyone you have the best in Hummers available. So now with the Hummer H3 Alpha you not only have the power of the world’s finest off road vehicle, but also have a street machine that states emphatically there is a person of discriminating style and class behind the wheel. A brilliant feature of the Hummer series is that they are taking customer input from previous models and improving the newer models. For example some new child safety locks for the rear doors and easy use power widow switches were implemented in the series as per customer request. Another feature of the H3 series is the style and power of a Hummer but slightly reduced in size for better city navigation and driving. Compared to the H2 series, the H3 is about 17 inches shorter in length and roughly six inches shorter as well as six and a half inches narrower. This size is approximately the same as a midsize family sedan so no longer do Hummer drivers need to worry about an over sized vehicle on smaller roads. But don't be confused, there is no shortage of performance! The V8 engine on the Hummer H3 Alpha is built for power. This magnificent SUV starts at only $29,995.00. It comes in seven colors: Black, Birch White, Boulder Grey Metallic, Yellow, Slate Blue Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic and Victory Red. You can choose to customize your Hummer H3 with a trailering package, a trailer hitch receiver cover, 16" or 18" chrome wheels, a chrome fuel door, two different grills, several step choices, splash guards, locking lug nuts, side window deflectors and even a bike carrier. And that is only on the outside, there are more options available for the interior and the roof of the vehicle. So if you are looking for class and power with a sense of style and comfort, your search for the ultimate driving machine has been made. The Hummer H3 Alpha is your dream car! |

The colors quoted in the article are 2007 colors. For 2008 you have the Solar Flare Metallic-28U (xtra cost paint), midnight blue metallic, black, birch white, Carbon Flash Metallic-58U (xtra cost paint, and only on the H3x), boulder gray metallic, sonoma red (only on the H3x) and victory red. That is a list from the ordering guide. However, when I ran the VIN on a dark gray metallic H3 the other day, the vehicle ID system stated the color of the paint was Graphite Metallic. So, is it Graphite or Carbon Flash Metallic? All I can say is it is a darn good looking color. I believe the problem might be that this same paint is available on the Acadia and is called Graphite Metallic, while it appears marketing wants to call it Carbon Flash on the H3. |
Re: Alpha article

Our parts say carbon Flash. I thought it was available on all H3's, it's even available on the pickups. |

Order sheets show carbon flash, but VIS shows graphite. Eh, no matter what they call it, it is a great color for those who like dark colors. |
Re: Alpha article

Re: Alpha article
I bought a H3 Tactical Edition yesterday, though my original intent had been to order a 2008 Alpha.
The problem is the price. You can order an Alpha from the factory today with a September delivery date, but they still don't have final pricing. Most of the auto rags have estimated the Alpha to base out at around 38-40K, BUT my dealer has been talking with GM and other dealers, and it looks like the REAL price is going to be near 50K! In my humble opinion, the addition of a V8 and Auto tranny does NOT warrant a $12-15K price tag. I'll just be happy with my '07 Tactical for a couple of years, though acceleration ain't pretty. |

I'm not sure if I'll be getting the Alpha now that I keep hearing how expensive it's gonna be. I priced an 07 with the options I wanted and the sticker was around 35. Bumping that up at least another 5 grand just for the horsepower this thing should have had from the start? Hhmmmm. |
Re: Alpha article

That figure sounds way too high; especially since the auto trans is not unique to the V8 |
Re: Alpha article
My dealer told me the price on a fully loaded Alpha would be around $46K.
|
Re: Alpha article
If they start at 30K that would be great, but I'm really pissed that there is no green.
