Has anyone replaced just the bulbs?

Looking to replace my stock headlight bulbs. Do I need to change just the bulb to get more light, or do I need to get a HID hi lo 9700 xenon upgrade kit? One only costs about $40 the other about $150.

What's the difference? I'm clueless about lightbulbs.

Also, if I change my headlight bulbs, what about the fog lights. Seems like they are really *yellowish* and won't look quite right w/ whiter/bluer headlights.

I did a search, didnt' quite find what I was looking for.

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

Yep replaced 9007 with PIAA XTREME WHITE PLUS and fog lights with PIAA XTREME H I D 3157. Nice bright white slightly bluish light about a 100 bucks altogether. Don't forget the relay trick puts driving lights on with headlights.

The best cost solution is to replace with Sylvania SilverStar bulbs. I have an extra brand new set I bought for my wife's H3 but found out it has different bulbs. Threw away receipt not thinking they would be different. You can have them for half price and I will guarantee they work when you get them as they are brand new. Let me know if interested.

Where did you order from b/c the prices I have seen are well over $150 for all 4? Also, what is the relay trick you speak of that you can run the day-timers with the headlights? Thanks....Jamie

uh, so the fog lights do not come on when the headlights are on? I've had my H2 for 2 years and never noticed that...

I need to do this relay thing, where can I get that info? Thanks for the help.

Do search 'Driving lights on with headlights". Montseratt has a real good description with pictures, cost about a buck time 5 minutes.

I agree with tomp, I used to use Sylvania SilverStar before I did an HID upgrade. HUGE improvement over stock!! Brighter WHITE, not the dingy yellow!!

The Silver Stars are adequate, but nothing compares to swapping them out for Xenon.
