Google trouble?

Anyone else having Google trouble?

I heard they were hit by a virus- that could be it.

When I click the links that are displayed after I type in a search the link takes me to weird shopping/marketing sites that are in relation to my search but not the site it said it was.

(ie: I googled "Ice Road Trucks" - the link to the History Channel pops up- I click the link and it redirects me to a site selling them.)

Is it just my computer or a Google site issue? please?:)

Thanks in advance.

A while back, Goggle started placing the first couple results on the search as sponsored links. They appear in a slightly different color. Is that what you clicked?

The "image search" function seems to be working.

No.:crying:

I just googled "Elcova" and "Elcova Forums- YOUR HUMMER SOURCE" came up, the link at the bottom was www.elcovaforums.com , I clicked it and it went to http://shopping.thinktarget.com/port...h.php?q=elcova.

Edit: And it won't let me backpage!

So I guess it's just me.:( I'm not detecting any viruses with any of my programs. I'll keep checking it out. Thanks.

It might not be a virus technically, but, if not, it's spyware. I had the same thing, and I managed it, but I don't think I ever killed it entirely. It kept happening. My IS guys at work worked on it three or four times, and it would get better. I'd run the Sophos stuff they loaded on it, and it would work fine, but then get progressively worse. Then I'd clean it up again, but never killed the core bad thingy on the system 32 doohicky. I tried other recommended anti-virus stuff as well. It never died entirely though. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...119#post280119

Out of habit, I tend to use Yahoo more often.

Like everything else in cyberspace that started out free and good, Google has now turned into a shopping search provider. I have about as much luck finding links on Google as I would on Amazon.

I agree. I use it when I want to comparison shop online. Just type in any make/product number of anything and press search. You'll get price comparison first, followed by 50 links to buy whatever it is.

VIVISIMO > crappy Google

Vivisimo gives you different folders of items that are related to your query and not that god damn mess that Google throws back at you.

It's still there, they just don't call it Froogle anymore, but it still does the shopping search instead of looking for pages. Try http://www.froogle.com or you can add the Froogle button (looks like a shopping bag) if you have the Google bar:

I forgot to mention that, if this happens again, you can copy and paste into another internet window the link from the url in green below the Google link. It's a bit of a pain but it gets you where you need to go. The links have essentially been hijacked by the worm creators to get you to go to male enhancement, Viagra, and Nordstroms websites.

Yup, that is what I have been using lately. I think you were the one that told me about it before.:)
