Service Air Suspension?
ok, i just changed out both of the rear suspension air bags and now it's reading "service air suspension" it was working fine after the bags were installed but now i don't hear the air compressor turning on. does anyone have a clue what the problem could be?

Re: Service Air Suspension?
Try disconnecting the neg battery term. for 10 mins to reset the computer.

Re: Service Air Suspension?
Make certain that the valve cap is on your compressor nipple.

where would that be located? i only replaced the air bags...i didn't touch anything else. |
Re: Service Air Suspension?
It's the fitting by your air compressor switch to whitch you attach the tire filler hose. It looks like the top end of a schraeder (tire) valve. Leaving it uncapped will produce the exact problem you describe.

Re: Service Air Suspension?
i've never had a cap on that valve but i will be sure to put one on it from now on.

ok, that worked...i disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes and everything seems to be back to normal |
Re: Service Air Suspension?
Anytime any air suspension components are changed A ride height calibration needs to be done which to my knowledge only the dealer has the right tools to do. Need A tech 2 scan tool and ride height calibration blocks. The light may be out but that doesn't mean ride height is learned.

ok, i'll keep that in mind. however, everything seems to be fine for right now after i disconnected the battery for a while. i'll keep an eye on it to see if anything changes. i would hate to have to go to the stealership just to get the system calibrated...i'm sure they would charge me at least $120 flat rate. |

CBR : I replaced an airbag on my rig once, (2 days old) and we didn't have to recalibrate the computer. |

Interesting, Roxie. Every time I leave the cap off, the ?SERVCE AIR SUSPENSION? DIC notice comes on. Every time I put the cap on, it goes away. I wonder if it?s an '03 thing. How are you and yours, BTW? |

Everyone's doing great! Thanks for asking. :) Good to see you back:beerchug: |
Re: Service Air Suspension?
If your getting A serv air susp message with the cap off likely the valve is leaking, the cap will seal off this leak enough to not cause A problem, if the compressor has to run continuously to keep up with the leak it will set an overheat code and shut the compressor down to cool it. Also could throw an exhaust solenoid code thinking the system is exhausting. Simply take the cap off and put some water in the valve and watch for bubbles(not the cheerleader next door).

Re: Service Air Suspension?
If you can pull the code, most obd2 readers wont, let me know and I can try to help ya out. Codes are stored under chassis option and most will only give powertrain codes.
