Corvette Servos?

Can someone give me a part number to order those Heavy Duty (Corvette?) servo's for the trans....a place online to get them from would be cool too.

I assume they can be installed from the outside of the trans without droping the pan?

Forgive my ignorance, but what would these be used for?

Thanks.

Man, I wish I could help you. I had them on our black truck, but that whole trans was rebuilt.

Maybe a trans shop could help you out if you don't have any luck here.

Re: Corvette Servos?

The tranny does not have to be torn down to change servo's. I would look at letting a transmission shop to do the job.

The vette servo matched with same year of your H2 will increase line pressure significantly to help stock tranny last longer. If you have added power to your rig it limits the amount of time the wet clutchs are allowed to slip when shifting gears making for a more firm shift. You can take it a step further and go with a vacuum actuated servo and take away the electrically controlled servo and you can lower the time of clutch slipping even more.

It would be best if you talked to a good tranny shop or if your lucky as I am I have a friend at a Chevy place that is their Vette expert and I'm going to let him help me decide on the servo setup to use. Initially we are going with mechanical vacuum servo setup.

Going this vette servo route let's you get firmer shifts without having the hard thump you get like it is when you use handheld tuners to control the tranny firmness. If you go with electronic controlled vette servo you are justing getting the ability to adjust the shift firmness even more than what the H2 servo does. If you can stand the shift it will help your tranny to hold up longer under higher HP and torque.

The vacuum controlled unit takes your tuning ability away some only, if you are not willing to crawl under and adjust the vacuum pressure with a srew driver like you would. Yet you can get even firmer shifts though with even more. The vettes that have went to vacuum control that I have gotten to ride in was firmer or more so than the electronic upgraded vette servo. I just did not get the firm jerk you get even if you just firm the shift up with handheld tuner.

Taz, im a fairly compatent fabricator/mechanic (I installed my Radix myself).....so I would think its within my skills to pop in a few servos. Where exactly do i look on the trans for them and how are they installed? Just never did it before.

Install the 2-4 servo assembly into the 2-4 servo bore.

3 questions

Will the corvette servo play havoc with the ecm?

Can you still use a handheld programmer with the new setup or will totally screw up the shift parameters?

Will it void your warranty?

And that servo cover compressor is only $257...ouch! Is there an easy way to compress the servo without using the tool that you know of? I'm assuming a brass drift would work...just compressing the servo enough to get the cover's retaining ring off.

If in vehicle you could use a long prybar with the help of a friend and push it in. I dont work on transmissions so other than that, not sure. I could ask our trans tech monday
