Can these be powder coated?

Just wondering if you guys think these could be powder-coated black? OR, does anyone know of a company that makes black ones that are not the tape on kind. Thanks....Jamie

Yes, they can be powdercoated once the chrome is stripped off.

So just gett'em sand blasted, then coat? Wish I could find some that were not already chromed, since that what I'm paying so much for....and really don't want.

Check with your powder coat person, but Im pretty sure that Chrome gets chemically removed not blasted, thus adding more to your bill$.

You could blast the chrome if you were gonna Paint them but for powder coat Im sure its a different story

You can powdercoat over chrome but the place will typically blast them and, depending on the quality of the chrome, may end up taking some of the chrome off at which point they'll need to be chemically stripped. I found this out on some SMA parts I had done...and stripping ain't cheap. It amounts to almost the price of chroming them...

Since they're on the side of the truck they won't be seeing a lot of rocks, bugs, etc. so I would try scuffing them well and using etching primer with some DupliColor Universal Black paint. If they eventually do peel you're only out $20 and some time and you could have them powdercoated then.

You can get Black door handles and buckets all day long at Cerritos Hummer
205.00 dollars for all four, (make sure you get the right locking hole combination before ordering)

Or

Ask somebody there if they have any black ones laying around from somebody who just did the chrome upgrade, They just throw that stuff away, seriously!
