I guess it comes with the 3.7 liter V-6 and you can upgrade to the V-8s. Same wheel base as the Cherokee (109.5) and 2 inches longer than the Cherokee, it's a Cherokee with a third row seat ...and it's ugly.

Not to counter the H2 as much as to give them a true "Full Size" SUV. With gas @ $2.50/gal they're timing couldn't be worse but they desperately need to compete in this segment. There is a huge profit margin in full size Luxury SUVs as we all know and Jeep wants a piece of the pie.

2nd row glass is cool...but i do not like the cherokee look...

kinda looks like a Mitsibishi Montero to me..

These two look good, and the Rescue looks very KICK ASS!

Now after looking at these, I am not sure what they were thinking on the commander.

It's ok, it seems like they're trying to model after the mighty H2. Some of those concepts are pretty cool looking!

Also, I always wondered what "Jeep Trail Rated" really meant; check this out from the site:

"Through a combination of natural and controlled field tests, as well as computer simulated environments, Jeep Trail Rated provides a repeatable and consistent measurement of off-road performance for all Jeep vehicles. Only Jeep vehicles are Trail Rated."

Interesting...computer simulated off-roading....

I would sell all my Hummers to get a Jeep Commander.
