HELP!!! MY MODS HAVE GONE SERIOUSLY WRONG!!!

Hey guys,

I know some of you hate me but this is serious and I really need your help.

I've had a Unichip in the H3 for a while and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Hondas and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the H3. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the exhaust so it would port the exhaust manifold.
I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK. After running the car and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the H3 back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.
Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My friend only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about Hummers.

I'm also worried if I'm obliged to sleep with him even though things have obviously gone wrong.

Please help.

Thanks, Hollie

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in regards to porting heads. That is NOT how to port your heads and will most certianly cause pits along the seal of the valves and ruin your heads. Or head in the H3

This has been posted on several vehicle boards with various spins on which vehicle it has been done to. It does always seem to include a Honda guy doing the deed... lol

The only way to do this is with Costa Rican sand. Honda techs should know this.

I can't believe there is anyone here that would believe this story to be true. Good grief.

You've got to add 10 % valve grinding compound and 10 % 2 stroke motor oil to the sand , This adds the right amount of lubricity to the mixture and allows any excess to be burned. You should do your husband's car before you go back and redo yours. THis works everytime. Make sure you have a good supply of all the ingredients;valve grinding compound,2 stroke motor oil, and a good brand of abrasive sand[poor quality can ruin an engine].Now the reason you want a good supply is so that when and if the motor starts to buck you can finish the job and motor will be completely done [in]. Your welcome lennyrebel

An easier way to accomplish this is to remove you air breather and drive in the desert or along some sand dunes for a week. The secret is to make sure sand is dry where your wheeling ,ie no rain.;)

Yep I agree. I also hear if you put sugar in the gas tank and drive the hell out of it that the sugar will keep your gas lines from rusting.

:iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

Any moron knows that you have to unhook the catalytic converter so the sand can get out of the exhaust pipe.:raar:

Unless your converter is already plugged in which case you keep the RPMs at about 6000 and your converter will get cleaned right out-forgot to add to keep revs up for at least one half hour. Your Welcome:dancingbanana:
