Healthcare. USA vs Canada

Just watched Micheal Moore's "Sicko" and I must admit you folks have it bad.

Over here in Canada it doesn't matter who you are, rich or poor, what your condition is, whether your proceedure is $100 or $100,000.00, the medicine costs 30cents or $100/pill, it doesn't cost Canadians a penny.

And if the medical procedure or expertise does not exist in Canada, they'll pay to fly them to another country for the treatment no charge. My son Tyler has first hand experience when he had to stay at Children's in Dallas for a few days to see a specialist. An $82,000.00US bill we never saw. No letters of refusals, freedom to choose any hospital.

When you are sick, it is illegal to refuse treatment and you may leave in a day or a month when you feel 100%.

Not trying to start trouble. I just think it's criminal how my friends across the border have to be put under that kind of stress. Especially those with children.

You have to watch this documentary. It'll boil your blood.

I'm fortunate, being retired military, I have it good as far as medical goes.

My American tax bracket isn't 50% of my income either!

:giggling:

Dennis, my friend, you forgot to mention all the Canadians that head south of the border to get health care. Sometimes the wait is just too long for socialized health care.

No offense, but our tax money probably paid for you son's bill under NAFTA somehow.

Yeah, our medical system is better than a lot of places, however you forget to mention that it's all heavily dependent on the Hospital you go to. Some have almost no wait times, some have 10+ hour wait times.

Some doctors aren't afraid to charge the system, some will let patients out without proper treatment. In a lot of ways, you have to trust your gut if you've received the proper care/advice, but I guess that's true in the States aswell, except here they won't charge you to get a second opinion.

It's not perfect, and there are countries that give better treatment and are almost equally taxed as Canada.

LOL NAFTA. :clapping: Who's fault would that be?

NAFTA must be the reason .50 cent COPD inhalers manufactured in the US cost $1.90 in Cuba, $7.00 in Canada and $90.00 in the USA.

Could it be because in the US, a doctor can be sued for millions just for fondling a woman's elbow?:jump:

It's all about profit. I'm for Capitalism no doubt. But at the expense of a person dying because it's cheaper to make them jump through the hoops until they die instead of shelling out the $50K to cure them is really pathetic. The U.S. is #1 in the world for medical facilities, advances and procedures but ranks #37 in the world just above Cuba in performance.

If you are uninsured in the US and you break an arm, the average cost is $30K. In Canada, a homeless guy will get treatment free. I have little tolerance for bums but when someone is hurt, shouldn't it be this way?

If this isn't a problem;

Why is this one of the top priorities in the up coming election?

Why are your grandparents and Tower traveling to Canada so they can buy the exact same drugs 90% cheaper?

Why are H3ers always looking for GMIDs?

Why the increase in Langhoff infections?

It is the new Enron. You'll defend it because that's what they tell you to do. Then when it collapses, you will blame Canada.
