Tru-Cool location

I have read nearly every thread about the transmission coolers, but I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the placement of the cooler.

There doesn't appear to be much room to work with, if anyone has installed one of these tranny coolers, I would appreciate any advice on which location works the best and any other issues to avoid during installation.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I am looking for the same info. I am putting a tru-col on my 05 h2 and I was also wondering if you should use thwe thermal bypass or not.I have never heard of a transmission failing because it was too cold lol

I visited w/ 10 dealerships about this issue before installing the one I purchased.....NOT one of them told me to do this mod....they all told me it's very rare of the tranny line bursting in the radiator.....they each have had maybe 2-3 of them since 03.....I'm not trying to influence you to do it or not, but any vehicle w/ an automatic tranny has the possibility of this issue happening....just wonder why peops on here act like its a must do....I'm open to comments, just curious as well really how often this happens....Mine on a 100 degree day NEVER goes over 175 degrees....I still haven't installed mine either but probably should....

KCHummer, I apprecaite the feedback. I tow my boat nearly every weekend through 90-100 degree heat and I am regularly running over 200 on my tranny. From what I have learned oil breaks down above 170 so it feels like a critical need for me.

You should do the mod b/c it is well worth saving the hassle of the nightmare

I tow my 31 foot boat with 2 x 200HP outboard engines, and have been off road in my stock truck and I have experienced temperatures above 175 degrees. I also have in daily driving as well. There have been a number of users here who have had problems with transmissions, radiators, and high temperatures. I did the mod and have not had issues with the transmission on my lifted truck and I will also do it on my stock one when I get the time. But for the price of the cooler I dont want to chance it.
