Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Cars.com-- I dont know where you live but if its the lower 48 you will find one.
|
Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
you can definitely find one. I guess it depends what your price range is. If it's too low, then obviously, you won't be able to "find one" in your budget.
it's there from autotrader to cars.com to eBay...to craigslist. I'm sure what's limiting you is your budget...vs. your desire. |
Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Some dealers still have some crazy prices up but there is a slim inventory on the 2008+ H2 Hummers (we just picked up an 08 this past weekend). You are going to need to spend approximately $45-55K for a 2008 depending on miles/color/options/condition. 2009's are $55-65K once again depending on the previously mentioned items. There is a dealer by me asking over $70K for a couple of used 2009's they have..... that is just insane. We paid $47K for our 2008 Solar Flare luxury edition with 30K miles, it has Navi, backup camera, rear entertainment, air suspension, third row, etc... (all availible options). I am very anal about my vehicles so I went over it with a fine tooth comb and its a very, very clean truck with no paintwork. This is also a Hummer certified pre-owned with 6yr/100K bumper-bumper warranty. We also got top end book value for our trade (2006 Luxury edition with every option except rear entertainment) so I feel really good about the deal we made, the H2 is technically my wifes car and she is happy (which in turn makes my life easier :D)
Be patient and find yourself the right vehicle, I have found its better to spend a few extra dollars and buy a nice car rather than troll the bottom of the price range for what your shopping for, you may have to attempt to negotiate a few deals but eventually you will find the right one. Nothing wrong with wanting to get a good deal but at the same time be realistic on what needs to be paid. Best of luck on your search:beerchug: |

Thanks for the information and your story matches what I am finding. Some optimistic sellers with prices higher than the range that you quoted. I have a lead on a black one with 37K miles, but am concerned that that is too many miles for a 2008 (actually the wife is concerned). I have not found any certified pre owned 2008s. Good pick up on that one. Back to the search... Bob |

And the limited numbers of 2008s.... :). I want to be at 50K and there are plenty of 2008s above that number some way above. As far as I can tell there are not droves of Hummer buyers in the marketplace... I just need to be patient and have the ability to travel to the H2... Bob |

Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
travel? no way- get it shipped on a truck.
1st- get a PPI done @ a Hummer dealership...that is if you can find one that offers that. then, after it all checks out, you arrange transportation. |

PPI? Private Party Inspection???? Bob |
Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION
most dealers across the country will do this for a potential buyer... you pay like $80~$120 for a Hummer mechanic to inspect the truck prior to you purchasing it. it's definitely peace of mind especially when you buy without seeing the truck in person. I did it & it was great! |

Sounds like a good plan. How to do it? Do I call the closest Hummer dealer and see if they have someone to go and do the inspection? Bob |
Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Pre purchase inspection is a great idea however I would contact a 3rd party company to do it.... not a person employed by the dealer. There are companies out there that offer this service, you may spend a few bucks more but when your gonna be dropping $50K on a vehicle its money well spent.

Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
I agree w/MVR. I would get a 3rd party to get truck you want to buy. I got a 3rd party (a Hummer dealer to inspect it). My truck was being sold at a different dealer in town.
If you can't find a Hummer dealer to inspect it, I would recommend using an independent inspection company. I've used http://sgs-ebay.sgsauto.com/ SGS inspection company is very reputable and is recommended through eBay. The inspector come out to the location of the vehicle and thoroughly inspect and take pictures for you. After the inspection, (which can take up to 2 hours), the will create a file for you and send it via email. Everything from the condition of paint, to the interior, ...they take pics of everything so you know what you're potentially buying. The price is very comparable to a Hummer dealer. PLUS, SGS sends you pics... all the Hummer dealer, all I got was a 2 page PPI summary. |
Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
If you can find a Hummer dealer to do an inspection, then you'll have to get the seller to drop the truck off at the dealership.
If the seller doesn't want to or doesn't have time, then you might consider hiring an inspection company like SGS to have an inspector come out to the location and do it there. |
Re: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
You are going to find H2's less available than before. In fact if a dealer has a new 09 left you better believe that they are holding sticker on them as there is only a handful left across the country. Also H2's over the past 6months have APPRECIATED in value. Odd but very true. Remember they only made 150,000 of these trucks for the American Market Total. Jeep sells about 90K Wrangler models per YEAR.....

I will agree that the asking prices may have gone up, but I can find no evidence that any are selling... No Ebay auctions have completed with sales of 2008 H2s in the last 3 weeks... Not much change in inventory either... Patience is my friend. I think. Bob |

Bob, good luck in your search. If you wait too long, you won't be able to take advantage of owning and actually enjoying the truck. I'm sure you'll find that perfect truck. Cheers!:beerchug: |

Don, Do you still have the SGS report? I looked at the samples on their website and they were a bit underwhelming. Your email seems to indicate that they were very thorough and detailed. Bob |
