Parts not available from GM??? Shift Handle
 

I was under the assumption that an auto manufacturer must make parts available for 10 years after the model year of the vehicle.

The little button you press in my shifter has broken, so i called around looking for a new shifter.

Part number: 15848861 is no longer available from GM.

Is this some kind of mistake? I need this part. 2006 H2, lux edition.

try Quirk Parts in Mass., they helped me. Ask for Dan, number is 877-372-7876. Hope this helps.

I actually repaired it using a wodd dowel rod and some glue, lets see if it holds.

What I really want to know is how this is possible, when they are required to make parts for 10 years???

Actually they are not required to carry parts for ten years. That is a myth. The part is not discontinued, it is on a national back order through GM.

Yep sounds the same about the part!!! Just a couple a weeks ago the part I needed for the locker was not in stock anywhere...so I just called eaton directly and recieved my part.
