header that you use?

so i am looking at the possibilty of replacing my headers, which i will also replace my exhaust throughout as well.

so what i am asking is, what headers do you guys use?

if you want to post about shorty headers, thats fine, but i am more interested in long tube headers.

i see a bunch of listings for OBX, Gibson on ebay ( these are the only long tubes i see on there)

anyone have any experience with these?

Re: header that you use?

I havnt had experiance with headers but i know Borla and Dynatech have long tube headers aswell.
I was really looking into longtube headers aswell but i read these 2 posts, where it burns some wires or fries a cable or something. Ill try and pull it up later if noone has hurd about it.

Re: header that you use?

im not worried about burning wires or anything.
that just tells me people did not properly plan things out or use common sense.

if you want to post the link, ill give it a read. thanks

also thanks for mentioning Borla and Dynatech. i know of them, but didnt think of looking them up for headers

Re: header that you use?

I have gone through 2 sets of Edelbrock shorties and 2 sets of Borla shorties. Edelbrock does not stand behind them if they are defective, Borla replaced the drivers side once and then told me to pound sand.
I now have the Dynatech long tubes and the performance is sooo much better (along with their cats) that I can't believe the difference.
Will keep you posted to see how they last.

Re: header that you use?

hopefully im adding to the discussion and not hijacking.
found this one: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ighlight=borla
theres another post somewhere with the same compliant on a set of dynatech headers.

Re: header that you use?

thanks for the thread post.

hard to say if it is actually a header design problem, or if parts were missing, or not installed correctly.

/shrug well hopefully more will chime in.

Re: header that you use?

I've had Dynatech long tubes for about a year and couldn't be happier.

What types of issues did you discover while installing the long tube headers?

Dynatechs bolt right on and so do the cats. No cutting or welding.

Re: header that you use?

Dealer installed mine. They also checked the bolts a few months later and all was fine.

so did you go with shorties?

Re: header that you use?

No. As far as I know, they make long-tube only, hence the reason I went with them. It's my understanding that short-tubes are a waste of money.

Re: header that you use?

Re: header that you use?

Plan on getting a higher end programmer or custom tune when you free up your exhaust w/ headers, high flow cats, etc... The increase in noise fools alot of people into thinking they're running better when in reality you just lost a bunch of torque. I'd almost get one of the mail order custom tunes now that the price is down over a hand held programmer.

It sounds like a lot of guys are agreeable that the Dynatechs are the way to go where's the best place to buy them for a reasonable price?

Jegs or Summit? Or some place else?

These are for a 2003. They have them for different year models, but I think they are the same except for the 2008 and newer models.

No burned wires, no leaks, and no other issues so far.

Yes, you need a retune, I suggest Nelson Performance.
