Steering Linkage Installation Tools

I am replacing the Idler Arm on my H2. The Service manual calls for using an Installtion tool (J29193 -12MM) or J29194 -14MM) to seat the joint. The replacement is a Moog part and they want you to use J39731 which is 16MM. So I guess most folks do not use one since they are fairly expensive to purchase for a one time use.
After looking at the pictures of the tool, it appears to be nothing more than a coupling nut, which is a tenth of the cost of the real thing.
Attached is a picture.
Anyone ever really use one and if so do you think the coupling nut would work in its place?

Thanks,

A buddy helped me install new moog pitman/idler/cognito kit in the driveway. i think it took about an hour going slow. From memory i remember just basic wrenches and a cheater bar to get them off and on. Getting them off is harder then getting them on.
