WTB: Wind Deflector for a Gobi rack
Does anyone have a wind deflector for a Gobi rack lying around that they wanna get rid of?
I tried contacting Gobi directly...but I get no response. Thanks in advance. |
Re: WTB: Wind Deflector for a Gobi rack
Its just a sheet of acrylic and some big ass L brackets. You could make it pretty cheap. Acrylic cuts pretty easy and is available at most sign shops. 4'x8' sheet is like $60.
Mine was vibrating at high speed, so I do need to screw around w it...probably put a bead of silicone along the bottom. I'm still working on bumpers, gears and about 8 other projects. Its towards the end of my list, but I could bump it up if you want a template of the deflector. |

I may ultimately end up going that route, but thought I'd throw this thread out there to see if a metal one was floating around somewhere. If nothing turns up after a while, I'll hit you up for that template. Thanks! |

I'll give Tim a shout. I think I dealt with him before when I was tracking down the spacers for my Gobi recovery loop steps... |

Re: WTB: Wind Deflector for a Gobi rack
I never installed mine, used my factory sunroof deflector instead and actually prefer the look much better. Mine did have a little damage in transit though towards one of the edges.
That's odd you haven't heard back from them, I emailed them regarding how the hell the wiring inside the rack is setup and I had an email the same day. I'm not sure if I want to part with mine just yet. I did however sell a lower air dam from my GTO across the country. Roughly the same size and weight, shipping was absolutely ridiculous... |

Let me know if you change your mind...I've got a good setup with FedEx. I could cover shipping by sending you a printable FedEx label to slap on the box. |
Re: WTB: Wind Deflector for a Gobi rack
I went with a piece of 1/4" black acrylic. It's in the mail; I'll have it for an install tomorrow.
Will post pics... |
Re: WTB: Wind Deflector for a Gobi rack
Got this fabbed and installed a week or so ago...thought I'd throw up some pics; nothing too spectacular, but pictures nonetheless.
Fabbed some sturdier brackets with a more subtle angle ![]() Black, 1/4", acrylic (57"x8") with a piece of Grainger 0.42" trim seal across the bottom ![]() Wider than the Gobi fairing...57" fits is right inside the outer clearance lights ![]() Being 8" tall and with a lower slope, the bottom edge of the fair rests just behind the center clearance lights. I did have to do a bit of contouring with a Dremel and sander on the bottom middle to account for the slight curve of the roof just before the sunroof ![]() All in all I'm very pleased with the final product...and MAN! did it kill the wind noise! I can actually hear my radio when the sunroof's open...just in time for winter...L0L! |
Re: WTB: Wind Deflector for a Gobi rack
Very nice fabrication Brent!
I can't hear dick when my sunroof is open due to my off road roof lights - wind noise galore! LOL |

SIDE NOTE: Man, you should throw you hat in the MD/VA/WV/PA "Meet Up" circle...it would be nice to show those H3 boys what a diesel sounds like on the trail. http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=40267 |
