help with need to tighten up steering.
hello i would really appreciate some help on tightening up the steering feel of my h2. i put a bilstein steering stabilizer on it, and it did not make any difference. at around 75mph the play in the steering is a lot. I would like to make it a lot tighter.
My mechanic replaced the tie rods did an alignment when installing the bilstein and said everything was tight and looked fine. truck is lifted with keys and tb crank! please advise thanks |
Re: help with need to tighten up steering.
I have a lift on keys & 40's. When I did the build I used the Cognito Idler arm Pivot Support assembly kit as well as the pitman arm and idler arm support braces and my truck feels Amazing as far as the steering feel. Just a possible suggestion to help your situation...

Re: help with need to tighten up steering.
These guys are right, but if you have more than 60K miles Huffader has the right answer: Replace the pitman arm and idler arm is the first thing I would do, then start upgrading the rest.

+1 - These go bad well before 60k and are a known weak spot on many Chev/GMC trucks. I just did my pitman/idler/idler bracket, and added the cognito support kit at 50k as my steering was getting loose. |
Re: help with need to tighten up steering.
Thanks for the help guys, that cognito stuff is expensive! time to start saving for a complete front end upgrade. I have 125k on it and it runs amazing!
