Anybody using hitch steps or having suggestions of what's on the market?
I saw the rhino step. Looks more like an extra bumper.
The flip-step with LED's looks nice, but is it functional?
I heared from PT-King that the Hummer hitch step will not come out for a long while.

It's made by Steelhorse and fits right in to the receiver hitch. It actually comes with a rubber gasket that keeps it from rattling. I think it holds 250 lbs. Folds up nicely out of the way. Has a brushed aluminum look with black accents. It has a patterned step face for very effective non slip. Best of all it's available at any Walmart for $19.95. Price is a little more expensive than found at Walmart, still a killer deal in my opinion.

That's the one I am talking about. Yes it is $19.95 at every Walmart I've ever been in.

I got a fancy one at a truck assessories shop here in town and I paid something like 25.00 for the CARR brand. It has USA stamped on the flip side when not in use. Also came with the rubber to soften the closing!

It has come in handy many times already.

I just bought one on eBay for $27.50+$10 shipping=$37.50. Have to spend some money to paint it all black. Looks like this one drops the step lower so easier to step on it.
Have been looking for a nice hitch step for months, unfortunately even auto parts stores have none and there is no Walmart around here. The Yahoo $50 HUMMER one looks perfect for those Hummer with chrome, won't work for me, can't paint that one black.

MAC,
If the hitch step you bought is lower, you might loose ground clearance.
So watch out for visitors who park their two-seaters in your drive way!

Aruba, it is a choice of ground clearance or that watermelon in the back of the trunk. Hitch step is a snap to take off, I think, never had one; took me a couple weeks to figure out what the square metal tube(hitch) is for. A lowered step should be very useful for kids and adults.

To paint that thing black, do I sand it first or can I just spray paint directly on it? after I tape cover the brake light etc.. By logic, I may need to sand it in order for the apray paint to grab.

The tube shape hitch step you mentioned might be good as a bumper buffer, but must be careful when parking. I did not buy that because I was not sure if the tube look goes well with the square Hummer back.

I got the Go Rhino hitch step/bar (black) and installed it on my (white) H2.
I tell you, it looks cool and works very well.
Fits perfectly between tow loop bolts.
It's more/less tucked (hidden) below the outside spare tire. It's very efficient because its broadness allows one (esp. kids) to climb easily to the left of the cargo space when 3rd row seat present.

Foam or rubber coating could also be considered to push away vehicles parked behind the truck, undamaged.
