So the other day I ran into a rock...well actually a dump truck was loosing some of it's left-overs and it got me.
I was more than 100 feet behind with several cars inbetween us... Unfortunately it craked the windshield. Looks like an X about 3/4 of an inch tall and wide....I had it 'fixed' asap because I didn't want it to 'run'.....the crack is visibly less but I still know it's there...it wasn't in the line of site...more middle under the rear view mirror...so I guess I'll survive...but that really sucks!!! Is this something that will be common since the windshield is so vertical? |

Don't know about in Texas but as far as I know, in Florida if your windshield has a crack your insurance company has to replace it at no cost to you. Worth checking into.

It got broken when I was shot by a turkey hunter while coming home from my parents. Left a huge nasty bullseye type break in the windshield on the passenger side. It's not in the way when looking out the windshield so I figured I'd just fix it later. Well it's 2 yrs later and it's never gotten any bigger so I figured forget it...let the dealership worry about fixing it when I trade it in. Hopefully I don't have any trouble with the windshield on the H3... |
Really, you need to check with your insurance company. Mine, Liberty Mutual, will repair them FREE. If I have to have the windshield replaced the deductable for it is just $100.
Just remember I'm in VA and regulations may be different in your state. |

Are the H3 windshields more susceptible to rocks cracking the windshields due to the upright design? I have experienced cracked windshields on other vehicles with the traditional sloped windshield as well

Probably, since rocks don't glance off like they would with a windshield at a high rake angle. For example, on my Vette the rocks seem to glance off, versus my Wrangler where they hit, stop, and break.

I think coverage and replacement cost depends on your insurance company and policy. I have nationwide and they specifically call out "glass protection" as an option in their policy (which I have).

Yes...that's what I hear...but didn't get the information at the time. I won't forget next time.... Also...State Farm at least here in Texas has changed there policy on windshield repair....they no longer waive the deductible. |

I hope you have gotten it by now. I had mine in the service dept. to repair the noisy roof marker lights and the dealer cracked the windshield. That was afternoon of Aug. 10th. They had windshield overnighted and I had my H3 back at noon on Aug. 12th. |
