I bought this H2 with a factory Ski Rack installed. Anyone know how to remove it? It just adds to much height to the rig (for the wife's mall parking adventures ).

Use key to remove rack end caps then open ski racks and loosen the two allen-head screws at each end and then slide ski racks out of main rack, replace ned caps.

Welcome to the forum.

DAMN, I bought this used and it does not have keys to the racks! I have the keys to the ski racks but not the keys to the roof rack end caps.

You think the dealer might have a master?

dochummer 01-21-2006 04:57 AM

Let me know if he does. I don't have keys to my end caps either. Welcome back to the H2 club!

The locks on the end of the racks should have a number on them. I can't imagine there are too many different numbered locks. Post your numbers -- someone might have a key. If mine match I'll mail you one. My truck came with a whole pocketful of extras.

something like E002?

Something like that.

rodster 01-21-2006 05:42 AM

Now that I opened by big yap, here's what I have.

E002 1
E003 4
E004 2
E005 1

And a couple for the tonneau cover.

If you need the E002, I'll get a copy made.

kacyk 01-21-2006 07:19 AM

I have E002. Before you go through the trouble, though, I'll call my Hummer dealer and see if they will help me out. If they don't, however, I would appreciate a copy. That's what I love about this forum. Great people always willing to help and raz you at every opportunity!).

I'll let you know. Hey Doc, if they do have the E002 I'll make an extra copy and mail it to you as well since we live in the same state.

Guys, if that doesn't work, your local dealership probably has a HUGE ring of extra keys on them.

I stopped at my dealership yesterday and bought an add'l bar for the front and when I asked if he had the keys, he pulled out a ring only comparable to something like the old jailers would keep...lol.

He gave me extra ones for the bars I already had.

Sounds good Kacyk. Let me know.

rodster 01-23-2006 10:15 PM

You guys get this handled?

kacyk 01-24-2006 03:09 AM

Not yet, I've been busy with meeting. Perhaps tomorrow.

Doc, got the key today. Hummer charged me $14.00 for a single replacement key! Thieves! Anyway, I took the key to Home Depot and they did not have a key mold for it. I'll take my rack off this weekend and mail you the original key if you need it. I'll need it back. Or, if you are not is a rush I'll take it to another key place.

dochummer 01-27-2006 11:53 PM

Thanks Kacyk, no, I'm not in a rush. I'm just hoping to have a key so that in the event that I needed to mess with the racks, I could... Don't want to make it a hassle for you, Rodster already has one available...

Oh, and welcome back to the H2 club.

Doc, email me at h2dad@comcast.net and give me your contact info. I had a key made and I'll drop it off in the mail.

dochummer 01-31-2006 06:00 AM

Thanks Kacyk.
