I have a Contender with a 7-30 Waters barre;, and have a Leopold 4X scope. Should I use a dovetail style mount(pretty HeavyDuty) or just the Leopold Mount that is shorter and smaller. My concern is with the recoil off that round, the scope may wander.
Thanks for y'all advice!
Pics of the scope mounts are to follow!

Leupold makes well respected rings to go with their scopes. I've seen several long guns running Leupold rings and bases with exotic scopes. Leupold "style" has a tendency to be steel, whereas that weaver style has a tendency to be aluminum and can flex or give some.

If it were me, it would be the Leupold, no question.

All I know is that I've used Leupold products on my rifles for more than 25 years and they've always been perfect. IMHO, you can spend more, but you won't buy better.

Thompson Center Arms

I never had a problem with the scopes and rings that thompson sells with the weapons. Have never owned any Thompson weapons but worked in the test fire room for two years about 14 years ago. I attached a link to their site.

Thanks Guys...I think I'll go with the Leupold base and rings. Looks like the most reliable way to go!

GO LEUPOLD!!!
Outstanding products top to bottom. And it's an Oregon based company.

I have Leupold on my 22-250 heavy barrel and no problems. Plus a 14x40 sight.
