Here's mine. It likely won't make much sense until you have the programmer.

These were the initial settings recommended by Trail Duty, where I got the Hypertech programmer. I haven't changed them since the initial programming and doubt I will. The truck runs great and my speedometer is dead-on accurate after installing tires the same size as yours.

Program: 87 Octane
Gear Ratio: Stock
Tire Height: I forgot
Shift Point 1-2: Min - X - - SC - - - - Max
Shift Point 2-3: Min - X - - SC - - - - Max
Shift Point 3-4: Min - - X - SC - - - - Max
Shift Pressure 1-2: Min - - - - SC - - X - Max
Shift Pressure 2-3: Min - - - - SC - - X - Max
Shift Pressure 3-4: Min - - - - SC - X - - Max
Speed Limiter: Stock
Rev Limiter: Stock

Here this should help.

I just got a SuperChips over the Holidays, and I've been playing with the different settings. I like the shift pressure settings of Tim's, but I may bump it up even more. He ran 37" tires too. It's a good start.

very much appreciate the info, as i am the furthest thing from "gearhead" as u can get, i got the hummer cuz it fits me good and now im gettin in a little deep lol

The programmer comes with very good step-by-step instructions. Just follow them and you'll do fine.

The only pain in the butt part is you have to pull your OnStar fuse while you're programming. That fuse is in the fuse box in the engine bay on the driver side, just aft of the battery. Look in your owner's manual for which fuse is OnStar. As I recall, it's in or near the lower right corner of the fuse box if you're looking in from the driver's side of the truck.

Whatever settings you choose to start with, it's best to have them printed and with you when you start the programming. Before I started, I read the thread that H2 Rocks posted a link to. That got me confused so I asked Phil at Trail Duty what he recommends. The settings I used are the same he uses.

The whole operation should take you about 15 minutes the first time. After that, well under 10. You'll likely change the tire size a few times to get it right.

My bad. You are correct, mine is SuperChips.

If your running the stock size tires is there really any advantage to using a programmer? Which is better Hypertech or Superchips? They both seem to do the same thing with the same results from reading their webpages.

Rod/Phil, does moving the shfit point lower as you indicated cause the tranny to shift into the next higher gear sooner or later than normal? I think I may have goofed on this one when I set mine up.

Thanks,

Pete

Thanks Phil, much appreciated as always.

Wished I'd known that you were looking at the Hypertech. I have a brand new one that is sitting in my garage. Didn't need it when I opted for the supercharger.

My doctor said I have A.D.D., but he's wrong...hey look, a chicken! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Ya know, Pete, I've been thinking that there's a lack of congruency between your avatar and your signature. I just can't picture a Confederate flag-waiving rebel with A.D.D.

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"

With a rebel yell he cried- "more, more, mo ... hey, HEY, HEY you see that thar chick-uhn!?!

TXSUT 01-18-2006 11:52 AM

Well, Rod, the Confederate flag is a joke that applied a few weeks ago where I was pretending to be racist. After 5 years of being a message board junkie (all sportbike/motorcycle racing related), I'm getting old and tired, and have a hard time these days with keeping everything in sync.

Rod, can u explain what Min X SC Max is? I've got the programmer and that doesn't make any sense to me. When I talked to the Hypertech tech he told me to set the rev limiter at 6100 rpm and set the shift points to 1-2 +200
2-3 +400
3-4 +500
I'm really confused about your settings.

You have the Hypertech programmer and Rod has the Superchips programmer, so his settings don't apply to your issue. For what it's worth, though, his "X's" show where he placed his settings in the range between minimum and maximum. To illustrate, where he says "Shift Point 1-2: Min - X - - SC - - - - Max" means he selected the position that is 2 clicks above the minimum value.
