I'm looking at a 18' wheel for my H3. What I want to go with it is a tire that is good off road and also on highway. What sizes and type of tires have some of you guys gone with. The wheel part is a pain in the butt everyone I look at has a problem with the offsets! If you have any suggestions feel free to tell me.

Hands down best performer on the road and offroad is the Toyo MudTerrain tire. I have had many other brands and this is the best one by far.

Bparker's setup looks great IMO. The Toyo MTs look great and perform great off road but how are they on pavement? Are they noisy going down the road? I just switched out my stock Duelers yesterday for BFG A/Ts since they blow away the stock Duelers off road and are great on road as well. I would have liked the look of a more aggressive tire but don't want to listen to them every mile of the way and want to get decent mileage out of them. Just some food for thought.

The Toyo's are not quiet. My buddy had them on his Wrangler and granted the H3 is a quieter ride, they were loud.
I had GY MTR's on my wrangler which is a pretty aggressive tread they and were like slicks compared to the Toyo's. But off road the toyo's blow the GY's away. ![]() ![]() |
If i had to make a guesstimate it would be that the Toyo Mud Tire is only 10% louder than stock. They are (for a mud tire) very quiet. On road they stick so well they have impressed me many times. I have even tried to make it push a little on a 3 lane curve on the tollway here in dallas and i took it at 80ish MPH and they stuck. I was sure I would get some push from the front end and it didnt. When I hit the turn i let the rear set then stayed in the gas and the tires never let loose.

Also, in my 02 Z06 Vette my best speed through that same curve was 105 so thats pretty good IMO for the H3 and Mud Tires =)
